How do you select which anime to start watching?

I'm curious. How do you guys choose which anime to watch next?

I usually just look at the animation style first and then check out what ratings it received on animenfo :D

Actually, I use the database, and personal recs from friends from anime-planet.
Neither have disapointed me so far :)

Sometimes it's also a question of availability. I "picked up" Ghost Hound last weekend, it was there, available and active. Researched it on the Net, sounded ok, therefore it is not stockpilled for future viewing :)

I'm too picky :(. It's going to be hard to recommend me something to watch since I pretty much have over 1k of wont watch anime @_@

I only made it through the first 5 pages...I understand alot of your choices, but on the other hadn, I must say..you are a picky anime watcher :)

I lurk on forums see the ratings ,the animation style and I watch what I am in the mood for . So I can reduce the chance of dropping an anime halfway .

Afro samurai - dont like the animation style
Black jack- dropped it after a couple of eps/ dont like the animation style either

Basillisk- read the manga a bit and watched shinobi. That is enough for me @_@


Animation/character design + good ratings = maybe watch

I usually read up on the recs, and look at the SS to get a feel for the anime. The animation style usually does not bother me unless its CG, so I dont take that into effect. Its more or less me prioritizing which anime to watch first since i like so many different genres., but normally I go for action/comedies first, although I do like romance in meh animes.

I don't really mind the animation as longs as the storyline and character developpement is good. Great animation is more of a bonus for me.

I guess we all have different qualities we look for in an anime :)

It's ok most of the threads on AP are off course :)

There's so much anime out there to watch. So judging them by animation eliminates a lot of them for me :) There are exceptions of course.

Fun fact: If you mark all your unmark anime to wont watch, your sigprofile wont load if you go to the screen where it tries to tell you watch something you haven't watched!
