decent sci-fi anime?

The last thing I watched was Ghost in the Shell (movie and series), Cowboy Beebop and Appleseed, as I really prefer the scfi-fi genre of anime... (please forgive me if I am not using the correct terminology)
Has there been anything in that vein released in the last few years? Any sci-fi animated movie or series (worth watching)?

I appreciate an advice.

Yep, note also that in addition to tags there are also handwritten recommendations on the database entries for each anime - so you could also go to the page for, say, Ghost in the Shell and you'd find other series people felt were similar enough in some way to warrant a recommendation, as well as why they are making it. In the meantime, this thread does need to be locked for violating the rules and such.
