I would not buy samsung HD, instead I would opt for seagate HD.
Another thing is video - I am sworn enemy of ATI cards. Pay little extra and get solid nv hardware man. ATI are built for speed at cost of safety and quality. I tried using vista two times, both times were disaster. Interface is killing me, even after making it look like windows 2000 XP theme it had those little annoying things that made me mad each time I tried to do anything. Like setting up internet connection. It is great if wizard manages to set it up. If not you are fucked. And I am computer savvy, not some mom who just discovered computers. Second time I actually had to hack windows XP to make it run on my HP Dragon and since there are no XP drivers my intergrated quadrophonic speakers are not working. Still I think it was worth downgrading to XP. At least now system is usable. As for performance in games. At the time I was playing Far Cry 2 on same rig with dx10 capable hardware. First on Vista - game was stuttering when map was cached from HD. Then on same rig with XP (dx9) - game was running smoothly, looking exactly the same. Only ~20-30% games have dx10 capable systems now (based on steam surveys) so no sane developer will implement anything that is dx10 exclusive. Not to mention dx10 architecture changed so much that when games is published for dx9 and dx10 you may be sure that it was written in dx9 and they hacked some small visual effect into it just to be bale to put DX10 sticker on box. Wait for windows7. |

i originally opted for a custom built system (fairly similar, only different mainboard and hd, seagate 1TB) but unfortunately the price of that service went from 80 franks to 200 franks which i deem way too much.
the available graphic cards are either the radeon 4850 or the geforce 9800, but afaik the radeon is faster and comes with a q9550 instead of a q9400 and with 250gb more hd (although its 200 franks cheaper) i guess i m gonna wait for the next windows then...hopefully i ll find my windows cd somewhere... |

They are alittle old but I have had no complaints. I really only use them to play the MMO Guild Wars maxed graphics and they can handle it just fine. Eventually though I will be upgrading to something newer. Oh and a 350-500W power supply would be good to power them. I think I got 500W hooked up and that is probably more than enough juice. Enjoy! |
