By the way. Here's an achievement for being born. Of course it is. Have you played CoD? You basically get a rank or an achievement for pushing a button. Hell, you get achievements for being really bad at the game. In US the charts were topped by Diablo 3, in UK by Max Payne 3. Europe has Ubisoft, Eidos and CDProjekt. US has Actilizzard and EA.

No, I actually haven't played CoD. I played some BF: Vietnam though. Come to think of it, I rarely play games that feature achievements. Empire had some, Skyrim had plenty, okay, maybe after all. I'm sure there was one for completing the tutorial, didn't seem quite so extreme though.
Anyway, we recently talked about the new X-Com... What about Xenonauts? Xenonauts – Strategic Planetary Defence Simulator | Xenonauts – an indie spiritual successor to X-Com! Might be cool too. Won't be released tomorrow though, but supposedly more akin to the originals. For what it's worth, who knows, maybe Firaxis' improvements are in fact improvements. |

I use steam killers so even games with achievements don't give me achievements.
I never actually played X-Com. This will be my first game in the series. I'm honestly looking forward to Dishonored more then X-Com because any tactical and strategy games tend to be a huge time sink and I don't really have that much of it to spare.

So, do you think that reaching a true AI at some point would make killing it in a game illegal? Could there even ever be such a thing as sentient videogame? How would one treat it?

I doubt that. Mostly because if a true AI showed up it would be considerably smarter then any human and you couldn't kill it anyway.
