GW2 plays rather differently than the first. For starters, mobility and good reflexes are much more important than ever.
A mesmer dual wielding swords (or sword and torch/focus) might do the trick for you, yes, now that I think about it, that should be about the closest to what you're describing. Playing mesmer is tricky though, but now that I leveled a bit and understand the class mechanics a bit better, it's pretty powerful. Maybe it was also the latest update... |

I also got a disturbing email regarding my GW account. It said something about email change and now the email change is final (2 separate emails). Which I cannot do where I'm currently at, regarding getting on the site to do it in the first place. Going to be ultra pissed if it got hacked and wasn't a forced change by ncsoft.

Nope, you'll have access to different utility spells depending on race though. There's much less skills than there used to be in GW1, and the allotment isn't quite as free either, as the first 5 skills are bound to the weapon (combination) you're wielding. On the other hand, you can have up to 10 skills.
Most classes can also swap between two weapon sets, and eles can switch through attunements, giving fire/water/air/earth spells from the weapon in question. On a sidenote, if you wanna be a tank, guardian would be the choice, from some of the builds I've seen you can play it as some sort of battlemage. The sword mesmer plays more like an assassin...then again, the thief does that too. Some skills are very remniscent of dervish skills though, like one were you turn invisible (and cripple your enemies or something) and on reappearance you blind them. |

Anyone still playing Guild Wars 2? I finally managed to get it for Christmas and I've been having a good bit of fun with it.
Wound up settling on Necromancer, Guardian and Ranger as my classes. I'm on Tarnished Coast (US) at the moment, but I'm still looking around at different server possibilities. Main reason I'm trying this server is because it's considered the "unofficial RP server" which I've found in some games have nicer people on them, but it varies. I don't actually roleplay myself beyond making semi racial appropriate character names. |
