so i'm having a hard time remembering, which was the series that was really really ecchi? if its ar tonelico ill probably pass @_@ i do remember loving mana khemia and above all else im obsessed with atelier... loooove alchemy games (and getting achievements for these ones is a nice touch)
Haha, the Ar tonelico games get more ecchi with each release. If you want to play at least one of the games, I suggest the much more tame Ar tonelico 1 for the PS2. Ar tonelico 2 made me break a facepalming record because of the innuendo. I haven't even attempted the third game because I cannot afford forehead surgery.

And yes, Mana Khemia FTW! Here's hoping to a possible Mana Khemia 3 in the future! Long live alchemy!

re: try the ps1 one, see 'i have every single rpg on those systems' :p thats why i remembered it being ecchi!

2, then, must have been the one that i gave up because it so ridiculous. which was too bad as i absolutely love gust's playing style

the atelier game on the ds is pretty fun, too

I've started over from scratch twice on Ar tonelico 2 because I cannot sit through an entire playthrough, but someday I shall finish the game...if the sexual themes don't kill me first.

Alchemists of Sera Island is indeed fun. I enjoyed how you were able to create resorts and run them in a business-like fashion. However, the only lacking system in the game was the battling - which was pretty much just pressing the "A" button. =/ Nice story too.

Persona 3 FES releases on the PSN as a PS2 classic this week ($9.99). I don't know if you've played it or not, but if you haven't, I'd heartily recommend it. It's one of the best jrpgs from the PS2.

Unfortunately, the PS3 has very few options. My biggest recommendation would be Valkyria Chronicles (it's a strategy game though).

Hello Sothis!

Glad to see another Atelier fan out there! If you have time, you should check out these games.

Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland
Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland
Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland (Due out next month)

These are excellent JRPG's and are much different from the traditional JRPG's out there since PS3's Atelier games revolves around the presence of a time-schedule and using that to balance the time you spend between adventuring and performing alchemy. Everything you do takes up your time and there are deadlines set in the game so it requires some planning to complete the game.

I would be willing to lend out my copies, but my precious NISA games are all at home and I'm still at school for a few more weeks. They may be pretty difficult to find now-a-days since NISA games are only sold online or at GameStop and you don't see them being traded in very often.

Eternal Sonata is probably still my prime choice for best RPG gameplay, but suffers from a clunky plotline (not entirely the writers fault) and sub par character development.

If you want story based games, Tales of Vesperia and Graces are probably one of the better games that will offer you good character and plot development throughout the game, but gameplay is not terribly exciting and makes grinding not so fun sometimes.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope International is also a decent RPG that just kind of balances out in the middle as far as gameplay and story are concerned. The gameplay can be frustrating to try to get into at times, but can be picked up with some practice. The plotline and character development is okay, but not great.

Valkyria Chronicles is a different type of RPG that mixes tactical strategy games and spins a live action feel to it. It's different than your average RPG as far as gameplay is concerned, and story and plotline are developed similar to other strategy games like Final Fantasy Tactics or Fire Emblem where you pace through the story rather than free roam. It's a fun game as long as you are not going to with the expectations of a classic RPG.

Just some suggestions.
