i understand that it's "abusable" lol... but first of all it's not a competition, and if people are stupid enough to value their time wasted that highly they can just lie about having seen other animes, obviously the system is always going to be "abusable".

also MAL has it, which is a much larger site than this, and they seem to be doing fine so I don't see why it's such a problem to implement here when tons of people want it.

ok well in all honesty i don't see how it can possibly get that result.

i didnt think anyone will argue that myanimelist is not a bigger site than this, but that isnt even my point.

EVEN if it is not a bigger site, it is a competing anime list site that has many more or more complete features than anime-planet and seems to be doing fine with this feature.

I don't see why it's such a problem to implement it here.

really? you're basing 'big' based on a website-worth calculator that functions solely on speculation and other factors that may not be based in reality?

are you familiar with the number of users here vs there? how about other factors that make it 'valuable', or 'big'? i'm guessing no, so please don't use 'this other site is bigger/better so do it' as a valid reason that AP staff should consider.

we do things here based on what makes sense, not just because any other site happens to do it in a certain way.

on mal you can mark a completely fabricated number for how many chapters of something you've read, for example. i can say i've read 500 chapters if 1 are out. this doesn't make sense, so we don't do it here.

other sites, like mal, copy/paste info from everywhere else on the web, regardless of quality. here, we consider quality a #1 priority, hence all information being hand written/personally edited.

we do things based on careful consideration, with users' best interests in mind. bear in mind that the 20 or less threads up there don't necessarily mean that the 300,000 users a month that visit AP also want this feature more than the other things we're planning and working on.

as the thread states, it's being considered, but we will not add the feature until we have a solution that makes sense. if you're looking for a site that will throw up half finished or poorly thought out features at the drop of a hat, you're on the wrong site.

Those "site worth" calculators are useless. It calculated the worth of a domain I used to own which never got any traffic as $200k.
