You can request any anime to be added in this thread. At this time we are only adding Japanese animation, or other animation that has Japanese staff involved. Occasionally Korean titles go up too on a per-case basis.

The following titles are not anime (IE, they are American or other non Japanese titles) and will not be added to the database:

We do not list 'director's cut' editions (for example, FF7:AV Complete)

We do not list CGI game sequence compilations (for example, the Shenmue 'anime' which is just a compilation of all of the game scenes)


Additional gotchas:

Fafner - episode 26 (50 minutes) was split into two for the R1 release. thus, the US DVDs say 26 episodes, when really the count should be 25. We have it marked as 25 (as does every other database) for this reason.

Body Jack - For now this will not be added as it is considered too borderline hentai.

The Shakugan no Shana specials

In ANN, there are indeed 4 specials listed, as the episode count in A-P database is also 4 eps. There's Shakugan no Shana-tan, Shakugan no Shana-tan Returns, Itadaki no Hecate-tan and Banjou no Carmel-san. But, all the others are just one episode except for Shana-tan, which has 10 episodes in itself.

It seems that all of these speacials are individuals, so maybe they should be divided into their own entries? If the entry in the database indeed includes those specials, otherwise I have no idea o.O

Looking into the lsit of Shanatan specials, they cover more than just the first series. The first two of the specials (Shakugan no Shanatan and Shakugan no Shanatan Returns) are from the first series and make up two of the shana specials.

The third goes with the movie and is this entry: Shakugan no Shana Movie Special | Anime-Planet

Four, five and six are shana second and this entry: Shakugan no Shana II Specials | Anime-Planet

And the last four are Shana S and this: Shakugan no Shana S Specials | Anime-Planet

Ok, so it seems I was a little off. I had only heard that there were to be 2 official Magic Kaito episodes, which were to appear in August because it was a month of Kaitou Kid hijacking the Detective Conan timeslot. But it seems there's another episode set to happen on September 24.

That means we really can't know when episodes will be added until they are announced. But idk what's really going to happen. It looks like they're trying to make a legitimate effort to anime the manga chapters, in which they've managed 4 (Volume 1, Chapters 1, 4, 2, 6, in that order) out of 26 chapters. Apparently Detective Conan OVA 4 is also one of the Magic Kaito manga chapters as well.

The entry when I went to look at it was marked up as 5, which is incorrect, as that is including the one off special that aired last year and has its own entry, therefore it should not be counted in the 2011 entry.

As for the action I have taken, I have reduced the count down to four episodes (it should be noted that raw/sub files number up to 5, again this is including the 2010 special). I have currently left the entry as ongoing since I can neither confirm that this is the last of the episodes, nor can I confirm that there will be more. Until there is some definite evidence of either of these (or until a significant amount time has passed with no new episodes), this will not be changed.

Also random bit of trivia: OVA 4 was indeed a sort of adaptation of one of the Kaito chapters, though iirc when I read it ages back, Conan didn't actually appear in the manga chapter so it's a fairly bastardised adaptation. :)

Pokemon Chronicles is indeed a USA/UK created 'TV series' which was a compilation of a few OVAs, a TV special and a bunch of other specials aired in Japan over a period of years. Because a considerable amount of people saw Pokemon, dubbed in English, on TV, and because most of the specials that comprise the 'series' weren't really released otherwise, we added it as an entry.

Here's the breakdown of the episodes (our listing is consistent with both ANN and Anidb, who I think both made the right choice in this case):

• Wikipedia lists there being 22 'episodes'
  
• 3 of those episodes make up the (jp) made-for-tv movie Raikou, The Legend of Thunder
  
• Two 'Pikachu's Winter Vacation' OVAs (with two episodes each) were aired as single 'episodes' (so, 2 eps of the 22 episode count for Pokemon Chronicles)
  

This leaves 22 - 5 = 17 episodes. So why do we list 16?

One of the 22 'episodes', 'Trouble in Big Town', is actually one episode of another 3-ep Pikachu's Winter Vacation OVA.

Thus, we've listed 16 total episodes for Pokemon Chronicles, which is all of the episodes not included in other specials/OVAs.

We've also added the following:

• Pikachu's Winter Vacation
  
• Pikachu's Winter Vacation 2000
  
• Pikachu's Winter Vacation 2001

I added the dates as their titles, 1999, 2000 and 2001, though Anidb lists them a year ahead (2000, 2001 and 2002). I can't find definitive reasons why so if someone can fill me in on the details, please do.

just as a note i havent forgotten about this - i'm not sure what to do with it, 3 entries vs be consistent with another anime database and make it one entry of 3. i'm waiting to see how anidb handles it as it appears it's a pending submission

We are also missing Patalliro - Stardust Project from the database it's just a short 48 minute movie for the original Patalliro TV show. It's only available raw so between my craptastic Japanese and the manga which the movie is in and translated I can write up a synopsis if you want one before adding it.

Also on a side note while the show is Patalliro the movie in most places are written Pataliro with only one "l" not sure why but I think it might be worth mentioning.

edit: to prevent just posting again just noticed something else "Shounen Jack to Mahou Tsukai" should have an alternative title of "Jack and the Witch" couldn't find this movie for the longest time because I kept looking for the Japanese title and nothing came up on my searches :(
Again might want to add "Two Fishes" as an alternative title to "Two Pikes" nearly impossible to find only useing the two pikes name.

a few things,

first, please do not edit posts and reply with new requests if you think of more after the fact. if not, it's very likely the edited stuff will get missed, due to how this thread is used by the mods.

-i added 'Young Jack and the Witch' as a searchable title to the toei movie - i dont fully understand what you wrote though, it sounds like you're saying you couldnt find the anime based on the japanese title (which is exactly what we have in the database)? the english-ized version isnt used anywhere so i dont know if people will actually search for it (all anime databases list it the same), but yeah, there's a searchable up at least, now

-added 'two fishes' as searchable based on the nyaa result, plus the jp title from anidb

-the patalliro movie unfortunately cant be added due to only being available in raw. there doesnt seem to be a manga based directly on the movie (just the parent series), it's also raw, and unfortunately 'craptastic japanese' probably isnt going to work to get a good/accurate synopsis ;)

if you can post a screenshot of one of the main series' eps, so i can see the exact count on the player, i can update that entry (sites seem to disagree on the exact so id like to see the ep runtime)

While the Japanese titles are all well and good searching around for "two pikes" never got me anywhere; just thought adding an English title to them would help other users that didn't realize the English names.

i'm not sure if i'm just strongly missing something, but after finding the file and checking out the manga, i can safely say that theres no way this is pretty much identical. are you sure we're talking about the same thing?

the first quarter of the manga focuses on a stupid spider and stuff being stolen. the movie starts with nefarious guys talking and other stuff that isnt in the first quarter at all. the first half of the manga chapter doesnt appear to be around in the first half of the movie at all, etc. some chars show up that are prolly the same, but definitely the plot doesnt match up.

based on that, theres no way i can add this and write a synop based on the manga.

Well reviewing the manga and movie you are correct they are not identical, but they are extremely similar. I don't know if they are close enough for you which is fine, but when I original flipped through the manga chapter I hit about 4-5 places throughout the manga which all were in the movie. The problem is examining it closer the beginnings are different, the movie starts following the manga at about 6-7 minutes in when they find the robot spider spying device thing. The nefarious guys do appear in the manga at around page 68-69 but that's also in the movie at a later time. The movie was probably more "loosely" based on the manga rather than exact or vice versa. The only explanation I have for the bad guys showing up right at the start would be in the original anime they sometimes appear right at the start like that but I honestly don't know. The endings are the same and many important plot points like the spider thing and the operation stardust are the same.
