[Question] Anime titles
 

I have seen and read the topic where is explained how to "add" an anime.

But i wonder why there isnt an option that lets you add anime. I know that you want to have a personal summary and stuff but what is the point in registering watched anime on this site if the database isnt complete.

Isnt it better to make some kind of web form and let people fill in missing anime instead of a post with a lot of pages that isnt easy to read.

I really like this site, but it is just annoying.

There is a summary in the first post of the additions thread. I don't know how well moderators maintain it.

Other features could be improved with a dedicated area, like bug tracking. But the forum is already up...

or you could just request shows to be added that you are missing

A-P isn't a wiki, and never will be. Sothis' first priority with the site is quality. If just any members were able to add series, it would turn into a big mess. You would have duplicate entries because one or more people didn't spell it right, or added a new entry for an alternate title instead of just adding the alt title to the existing entry, you would have people adding series that aren't actually anime, you would get people adding erronious information, etc, etc, etc.
Now that sothis is adding blank entires (something she didn't used to do), you can get a new series added fairly quickly after requesting it, you don't have to wait for someone to write up a summary, take screens, etc anymore.

It might make things faster/easier in the long run if sothis were to add some kind of form where members could submit series info and/or summaries & screens, but have them not appear on the site until someone manually approves them. However, adding such a thing would cost a great deal of $$$$ to code, and cash is already in extremely short supply.

Thats what i meant. Its not a hard feature to program.

i always love when people say things like this, having no idea of the infrastructure of the site they're using or how long it would actually take to build.

making a <form> is easy, yes. building a full moderation system? not easy.

I think it would be a good idea to put a link to the 'Anime Addition Requests' thread on the 'Search Results' page.

A form would also be good, because not everyone wants to join the forum. It can just be a simple form for now, and then add a full moderation system in the future if/when you have more money.

How hard can it be to make a form with php/sql. Its only hard if the architecture of your application sucks :/.

feel free to explain to me the exact architecture of anime-planet, as well as other sites you've personally programmed that are of the complexity and size of anime-planet, if you think building a robust moderation system is 'easy'.

as i've mentioned, building a form is not hard. building A MODERATION SYSTEM is not an hour's task.
