I'm with the others on that you can set a series to how many times you've re-watched a show but not to let it count towards life spent on anime.

The "My Life on Anime" isn't an issue so long as the Watched/Watching/Stalled/Dropped list doesn't get affected by the change. Someone who's seen One Piece, Sgt. Frog, Bleach, Naruto, Dragonball, and Dragonball Z has a lot of "time" spent despite having a very low "watched" number. Of course, that's a little more nuanced, if they're going to show in the "Watching" list, but not the "Watched" list totals. Hmm... Cost estimate for that granulation, sothis? ^_^

Either keep it the way it is or add a 2nd life bar. It isn't fair to take away a feature from some people just to give a feature to other people. And judging from the replies, it seems like more people care about unique time than total time.

Every new feature is going to be 'unfair' to some group of people who don't want it.

Having said that, personally I don't think this feature is nessisary and like someone earlier in this thread said, it could lower the site's quality.

If one thinks that spending a month of their lives watching and re-watching DBZ is something brag-worthy, well....then I think that you're a true otaku. This is not a compliment.

I'm with Hab on this.
I'm a lists person, I just love making useless lists about lots of things and keeping them accurate, but I don't really like the idea of this massively effecting the "Watched"-count or timebar.

well, what i can tell you is theres only a few reasons people cite consistenly when saying why they leave AP for our competitors or continue to use them in addition to us - and rewatching is usually #1.

Well then, what about adding the option to choose which timebar to display in your sig? An "Unique time spent on anime" or a "Total time spent on anime. ".

Maybe even being able to put them side by side, thus displaying how much of your total consists of re-watches.

I don't mind that the feature exists, though I'd want the "unique" time to still be accessible, even if someone have marked re-watches.

With the Re-read I don't see any other option than just a number indicating the times read, since there can't be a time bar for that.

Kari5:..there should be some way for people to see the actual time people spend on anime, not including the 7 times they've claimed to have seen Sailor Moon.
And there should probably be an option for signatures to show the 'old' or 'new' life on anime.

I don't see it were bad for quality. Sothis specificlly wrote ("there will never, ever be a way to sort users by their life on anime...will never be an easy way for their ego to be publicly stroked unless you're in the person's profile and see it first hand") that it would only be viewable by the users themselves and not by others. At least that's how its been when we once discussed it and how i understood it now. The 'old' should never change in signatures/user sites imo, if one wants to stress out the total time, he/she could just copy-paste the total time incl. rewatching to his/her blog. I like the rewatch count idea though; Rewatch-value (but that is in the rating somehow included anyway) were imho more informative than a rewatch-time-bar.

Let's say I watched Sailor Moon once.
Person B watched it 3 times
Person C watched it 5
When you go to Sailor Moon's page on A-P will it say it's been watched 3 times, or 9 times?

To my understanding (as i wrote before) it would publicly only say 3 times - as in three different users have watched it, as before. The rewatch time is a private feature.
