just noticed trying to post a link in a comment yields an 'invalid data in comment' - i'll look into this

If I'm not mistaken, I think it has something to do with the character encoding of the link. Sanitize can handle UTF8 data just fine, but stuff that's non-UTF8 can cause issues. I think we fixed this for profiles though, so you might want to make sure comments work the same way.
