[BUG] Glitchy blog and preview

I created my first ever blog, and then had to delete it. Everything looked fine in the preview pane, but I had unwittingly copied in some html and when I posted the blog, it was full of the html editing.

There was no way to delete this, and a table that had been copied could not be removed, either by deleting or cutting.

Also, I have remade the blog, and nothing I do will get the images to align in the centre. I have tried using the alignment button, and bb code tags, but neither work.

Strangely enough though, it all looks great in the preview, then borked when posted :(

so the thing is, html isnt allowed in the blogs. bbcode is, html is not. i should put in a warning text about that, and about which bbcode options are allowed.

i have a patch for that that will at least strip out the html, i need to add it tonight.

as for the image centering ill investigate

work around if you plan to paste something from html driven pages to first throw it into a plain editor.

I knew html wasn't allowed (hence the unwittingly comment), it was purely by accident I picked up html formatted text. My main problem with this is that the preview shows up html formatted text as fine - its only when you click publish that it shows as borked. And you can't delete the invisible html from within the editor.

we do, it's [video] [/video]

cerium (aka System on here) did a TON of work to make that happen. works with google and youtube video automatically (ujst put in the URL, no embed code)

hey kira, can you post a blog again, as close as the original as possible? ie, if you pasted from word (and maybe still have the same text, hopefuly), do that again and publish it. it would be the most helpful if we can see what's being rendered to track down the problem.

Ugh. Pasting is a very sketchy thing with this editor. It tries to be too helpful and ends up making a mess of things. I'll spare you the technical details (and my ranting) but, basically, pasting formatted text is something I recommend you test a bit yourself in your editor of choice before using it for any serious content.

I'm curious about the html you were unable to remove, however. There are three places in the system which translate many characters to entities, which should render any html as plain text. How you got a table to actually work is... interesting... to say the least. :D

I appreciate you bringing attention to this, but without anything to look at, I'm just blindly stabbing at the dark here. Next time, leave the post intact so we can view the end result and so we have the exact content in the db.

As sothis has already stated, there is a video tag ([video]url[/video]) which performs the exact function you're asking about. Due to the nature of the tag it currently only supports youtube and google video; but we can add more sites as requested/necessary*.

On that note, there are a few other supported tags which aren't documented as of this post: Code, Quote and Spoiler. They work exactly as they do here on the forums, and provide similar functionality. Though, I don't recall if there is support for spoiler text in the style sheet, yet.

It seems to be the table that you can't delete. When I go into edit, you can see the table as a blue dashed line, but there is absolutely no way to remove the bastard thing.

And appologies System, I have never had a blog or anything like this before. You know what they say, tailor to the lowest denominator. And that would appear to be me >.>
