Default [Suggestion] report invalid information

id like to request a small feature, if there is an error or discrepancy in the information of a anime series, we could report it as invalid, or if members get a certain number of posts in the forum they could begin to edit the information themselves, kind of a wiki but less public and more elite than other sites that use the wiki system

There are already threads for posting any bugs or discrepancies in anime/manga series:

http://www.anime-planet.com/forum/fe...gs-errors.html

http://www.anime-planet.com/forum/fe...de-counts.html

And I don't see what post numbers have to do with reliability. In fact, it probably works conversely. People here who have a *lot* of posts unless they have been here a long time rarely add anything to the site. Some people who work really hard don't have much time to post, so don't have a massive count. A wiki type idea is too easily open to abuse :(

Currently at the moment you can already report errors or discrepancy's in the database in the form of the [FEEDBACK] Anime entry bugs, errors or [FEEDBACK] Anirec: Episode Counts ^_^ These two threads are stickied at the top of the "Feature Requests, Bug Reporting, and Site Questions" sub-forum. Though I could see a button on the pages that users had access to that allowed for them to report it there to be useful. But at the moment the implementation of any new feature will be put on the back burner as the completion of Version 3 of Anime-Planet has much higher priority.

As for the wiki entry editing style, I'm fairly certain that this will never happen because of the high standards and quality we hold ourselves to. Sure we could appoint specific outstanding individuals for this but I think the current system works well, for the most part.

I agree that the wiki thing might not be the best way of doing it. And IF it was used, then we shouldn't base it on posts, rather base it on the rep system if it seems to work honestly and well.

hi autofire, thanks for taking the time to make a suggestion ^_^

i agree that we need a more agile way of doing updates to the site - though given AP is all about quality, we likely won't ever move to a FULL user-controlled info system (but i'd like to get a lot closer!)

after v3 launches, in the future, id like to get a full moderation system going. how it would work is in each anime/manga entry, you could click a 'suggest changes' link and could change any values or leave additional feedback. the submission would then go to a group of moderators who could easily accept/deny the suggestion, with a reason why if not.

so yeah - consider it planned for the future, there's just no time/budget to do it at the moment ^_^

it wouldnt be giving full control to the user, but like i said it should be based on either posts (or recently suggested the rep system) and that would take some of the work load off of the mods and admins - take it from a former mod that hangs out with a few admins on a site that is advertised in several gaming magazines - there is a lot of work for admins and mods and anything that can help take some work load off you guys and gals is always a bonus
