Default [REQUEST][FORUM] Closed threads meta-thread

Is there an official place to clarify or appeal thread closing?

Misunderstandings happen, so there should be. Not all moderators read PM, and doing it in public seems like the right thing. A sub-forum may be better than a dedicated thread, because sometimes appeals need to be closed as well.

Just asking because I stumbled over a closure with a reason that is a month overdue:

BTW it's probably a feature that closed threads cannot be quoted...

Threads rarely get closed. They usually just get moved to where they belong, or merged into an existing thread, and in such cases there is normally a redirect left behind. The exception is repeated duplicate requests here in the requests section (like the endless "mark watched multiple time" ones), or blatant spam ("click here for cheap viagra!").
There was a specific reason for the thread you linked getting closed, and it will be revealed when the time is right.

edit: Since sothis hasn't given an answer to the overall topic of this thread (the idea of having a specific place for people to discuss the closure of threads), I won't move this to completed yet. My guess is that she'll say it isn't needed, but I'll wait for an official response from her.

my response is 'be patient, as prodding me about things when i'm already spending 2000% of my spare time on AP only pisses me off and doesnt help it get done sooner. assume there's a reason if things are lagging, and make a paypal donation if you'd like things to go faster.'
