Would it be okay if I created a Facebook application that allowed it to link to the awesome signature portion of this site? I don't know much HTML, so it would take a while, but it would be cool and might increase traffic to anime-planet. It would at the very least add to the number of signature 'pulls' (can't think of the correct term).

How do you go about linking to the signature portion? I mean doesn't the user have to manually select/add the anime/manga they've seen/read for it to be added to their stats to be seen on the signature?
Publicity is good I would imagine, peoples signatures from other forums is what brought me here... |

First let me say that my understanding of HTML is very generalized, so if this sounds like random babbling of a crazy man, it likely is. ;)
Here's my concept: I would create a 'box' (a.k.a. a facebook application window thingy) that would link to this main site the same way that you can link your signature to any forums. Each user would have to input the correct information for their account the same way that they do to have the fancy little box in your current signature. It would contain the exact same data that their main anime-planet profile has, nothing changed. The easiest way to write this would be to just make a 'generic' signature box (basically just an empty box that the user could input the BBC or HTML code to get it displayed). However, I don't think that Facebook would allow such a box because it would allow people to put in other HTML links, which could consist of banners that could reduce Facebook's advertising click income. Therefore, I'd have to design it to exclusively work for anime-planet (design the HTML or BBC encoding directly into it and have the user only input the personal information). For example, this is my signature information, minus the stuff that would force it to display as a picture: url=http://www.anime-planet.com/users/Rollar/forumsig img http://www.anime-planet.com/images/u...res/Rollar.jpg /img /url So in the facebook box, the only thing I (as the user) would have to insert would be 'Rollar'. Everything else would be preset. |

I've been doing more research into it, and it looks like I'd have to learn a lot more coding then I was hoping to, therefore requiring me to actually study a PHP language, which I don't currently have time for. As of right now, I'm afraid it's going to have to sit on the back-burner. But perhaps one day...

If facebook allows you to use html, you could put anime-planet in as an iframe. Wouldn't be as good as what you were describing, but it would allow people on facebook to use anime-planet while still on facebook.

Unfortunately, I did some tests with some generic IFRAME encoding, without any success. It seems that standard HTML is not usable with the developer application they have for creating boxes. Here's a quote from the developer page regarding what you need to build one:
