Sothis. I am so sympathetic to your dilemma but this is my dilemma. I have absolutely ZERO faith in PayPal. I have been burned once by PayPal and I know others more foolish than myself who have been burned more than once. As the old adage goes, once bitten, twice shy. Until there is a better donation pipeline, I am loathe to use PayPal and that means I and people like myself can't put our money where our mouths are.

paypal really is the 'best' donation pipeline - if you can find me another option feel free, but accepting cash or check is not a smart thing for me to do right now.

I'd never open an account with them, either. I read the terms.

But you can donate using any credit card, in which case you don't give PayPal anything and can recall the funds any time. Didn't someone say this in another thread?

sothis you said the manga db is as good as finished - $ needed for completion? and how much is needed to persuade you allowing manhwa as well ;)

and i would really like to have all v2 features back - especially the friends management.

and sort by rating in your personal anime lists would be really nice!

though i would like to know some rough numbers how much what "costs"^^

but of course - ive been trying to get a hold of our other dev for this, but it's bee tough syncing up. i'll have at least the total for relations (with a breakdown of what's involved) shortly.

manga-wise probably nothing is needed as i can do most of what's left myself.

Well, the manga rec WOULD bring in new blood...
But doesn't new blood = higher bandwidth costs?

yeah, but on the other hand it also brings in more opportunities to sell ads (more pageviews = more pageviews to 'sell' for ads)

the blocking issue for manga rec isn't really the code at this point (well, sort of is) - it's design elements. ie, getting manga stats into the profiles, manga recs, making sure everything auto updates, etc

its uncertain if we'll put manga up now or once the new design is up.
