[REQUEST] A different time spent on anime bar

With a single bar you can see in a single glance how far the life in question has derailed.

Take two of your mockups side-by-side: how long to figure out which one represents more time spent?

And why do you propose a change without mentioning how it would benefit anybody?

with multiple bars you can see more easily how much time youve spent on anime, because the original bar doesnt change at all until the next month is filled. with this you can exactly see how much otaku you are.

so lets take the two side by side: since the original bar doesnt change at all until another month is full, my idea displays everything more detailed, thus you can compare yourself to someone else more easily. (compare from right to left

neither of those bars would benefit anyone. i think it improves the site and the original usage of the time spent on anime feature!

I agree, and I don't think it'll make it easier to see how much time you've spent either. I mean with one solid bar you think, whoa I've filled that up a fair bit, then you see the text and THEN you begin to wonder what you're doing with your life (before deciding that, actually, you just don't care and go off to pop on another episode).

It looks odd having seperate bars for each thing, unneccesary really.

i mean really, though once you hit a month the bar doesnt move much, the point of the bar originally was sort of superficial and cute - and i think it still is. right now it looks like a temperature or a thermometer that fills up, and that gimmicky aspect is why people like it.

something to note is that moving forward we'll have more graphs and things to look at which might help satiate your desire to have a different kind of graph (things like your rating patterns, genres, etc)

regarding the shorter bars: Is it really that hard to visualize something such as 2 weeks = 1/2 month without a bar to show it to you?? The current long bar is more indicative of how much of your life you've spent (which is very difficult to visualize without some kind of graph, and is after all the entire point of those sigs).

Speaking of.... Hey sothis, what exactly is the bar based on for percentage? ie, a 100% bar for just months would be 12 months, so a 100% bar on a sig would be...? Is it based on the total run time of all anime on the site (which would mean that your bar would actually decrease every time new series were added to the site), or is it based on the person's current age (which would mean that 1) everyone would have a different value, 2) if they didn't fill out their age when they signed up, or filled in the wrong age, then the meter would be way off, 3) your meter would get shorter on each of your birthdays), or is it based on some arbitrary age (ie, assuming that everyone is say 25yrs old), or....?

The orginal was a bar slapping you with reality letting you know how much of your life you've spent watching anime. The 2nd bar's used to compare stats among Otakus. 1st Version looks sharper. Besides, the 1st bar has all of the information listed so you don't need the seperate bars. Sothis, do you know when you're going to have the time to bring the bars back?
