Lightbulb [request] A Way to Filter Anime by Dubbed/Subbed Status

One feature that this site seems to be missing is a way to filter anime by whether or not they have been dubbed into English. I know for a lot of people it doesn't really matter whether an anime is dubbed or not, but personally I prefer to watch dubbed Anime. Perhaps you could add a "dubbed" tag or some other way to filter anime by whether or not they have been dubbed?

This has been requested many times, and always rejected (at least for the time being). Part of the problem being the complexity of tracking multiple languages (it seems to be an all or nothing approach, not just eng/japanese).
You'll have to wait for a final answer from sothis, but it'll more than likely be denied or at least "maybe later".

Well, for now couldn't they just use tags? There's already a way to filter stuff by tag, so really all they would have to do would be create tags for "Dubbed into <Language>" and then apply the tags as appropriate. That would be completely effective as a temporary solution.

what i'd prefer to have is something automated that works based on the VAs added - meaning, if english VAs are added, it would be flagged as being dubbed in english.

the code to output that information wouldn't be hard, it would just need to be designed into the entry pages. the main reason i haven't worked on something like that is because i think our char database needs to be more complete first... we have a ton of chars at this point, but we haven't been focusing on making sure all dub information is added quickly. what i would hate to see is people getting upset that series don't show up as available dubbed even when they are, simply because we dont have the chars added or havent added the [language] VA. since i know that'll happen as people complain about missing partial info, thats why i've held off.

but yes, it is something i'd like to do in the future.

maybe more char mods might be in order to help solve that? it seems like there's a whole bevy on the list but only a handful are currently active and contributing

I think our main focus is on Japanese and English VAs, to be honest. I think the site has the capabilities to also to Spanish, French, Italian, and German? But finding information on those are hard. We do what we can for English dubs though.
