Promoting Donation

I was just thinking that perhaps if somebody donates money they could get something like a special skin for their profiles or some kind of special Anime Planet forum signature. Like one that has an added function of some sort. Can the forum signature with the Anime Planet stat tracker have an animated background? If not but it's possible to make it so that it is then that would be an excellent way to get people to donate. Especially if a few of us worked on making some really good animated AP signatures for people and just for examples.

- [15 Points] Screenshots OR Synopsis for Anime Entries created AFTER you join the club. (Either must show up on site before requesting points)

- [25 Points] FULL Anime Entries created AFTER you join the club. (Synopsis+Screens)

- [15 Points] Screenshots or Synopsis for Anime Entries created AFTER you join the club.

- [25 Points] User Reviews Anime/Manga.
Rules for User Reviews!

Add a user review for any manga or anime AFTER you've joined the club.

RULES:
1. like with any user review, you need to be FINISHED with the series (and/or have seen it in the first place, haha); IE, if you've dropped it and are totally done a review is good then. if you're permanently stalled for awhile that's ok. fully watched/read is ok. reviews for currently airing are fine too assuming a decent amount is out and/or you finish it off later if needed once you're done.

2. the review needs to be at least a full paragraph - please make it somewhat useful for people reading :)

REMINDER: user reviews don't have to be many paragraphs, or even have good english! they can be as little as a single paragraph - they just need to explain what you thought of the series (spoiler free please!) and any extra tips for the reader.

- [75 Points] Monthly Marathon Recommendations - MM Club
Rules for MM!

-you need to make atleast 5 recommendations for the series that are a part of the MM event at that time.

-recommendations must be made within 3 days of the end of the event

-even if you didn't participate in the event (because you had already seen the titles, etc), if you hadn't made recommendations already for that series you can add them in the same timeframe to get the points. *note: if you delete and re-add recommendations you'll be disqualified and Sothis wont be happy ;)

-as always, please only make recommendations for SOLID pairings. don't add bad recs just because you want the points, as that wastes valuable time (for Sothis, who has to struggle with deciding to flag something or not)

- [100 Points] Manga Entries created AFTER you join the club.

- [100 Points/US Dollar] Donations made AFTER you join the club.

The ap sigs are forced to be JPG format, so no animation possible (at least not until the system is revamped to allow other formats, but I don't think sothis has any intention to do that, at least not for a very long time).

very much this. big reason I haven't bothered is because my contributions to date [so far all non-monetary, mind you] would for some reason be discounted - if I'd known before I started contributing that this was available it would be a different story. it rubs me the wrong way that my equally valid attempts to help out are somehow worth fewer Arbitrary Points than those of someone who's in the 'special club'.

there are no membership requirements so it isn't special....and if your not in how can anyone track your contributions??? it isn't like there is any huge benefit to being a member other than the ability to support the anime planet community...the "rewards" aren't anything huge...it isn't a secret...it is a regular thread in the club section...

i cant speak for kari, but i think she'd surely be open to discussions about rule changes. the club was started years ago for some of the people who were in the forum and contributed stuff, as a fun reward system. i personally wouldn't mind the 'donated before joining == less points' rules going away. kari took over the club when it was abandoned awhile ago, so i'm sure she also would appreciate volunteers to help tally stuff, ideas on how to improve things, etc

Wait on a second here... 'discounted'? 'Bothered'? 'Arbitrary Points'? Dude, you've done fantastic things with your char subs etc. but you have to understand that the busy Kari took over without notice, and now mods this club on her own (with recent volunteering/input from me) and that this doesn't 'discount' any contributions you make that aren't listed in the main section. I'm sad to see this kind of attitude, while we're absolutely open to expansion and suggestions!!! (As we try to append to most things we post)
We've been talking about expansion and implementing improvements, and we hope to introduce more soon, but life gets in the way and... many dedicated hands make light work...

TACO isn't some 'elite McSpecial Club for Exceptionally Special People with Strawberries and Epic Moustaches', it's just an encouragement to keep A-P as maintained, complete and active as possible.

yeah if it was special and required any talent ....ah.... i could not be in it....although it is nice that there are talented people in it....one who ...you know can write stuff...and be understood when they do...
