A great many of those tags look extremely redundant to me. The pair that leaps out the most is "bad guy" and "villain". Besides the fact that "bad guy" just sounds childish (no offence), they both mean the exact same thing. "Bad guy" is just what kids call "villains", the same way they use "grown ups" instead of "adults".

I don't think the list is as bad as it appears. I can see a use for a gang leader tag and mafia member is already covered by gangster. Villain/Bad Guy and Villainess/Bad Girl would normally be useless because there are so many anime in which these roles are vague and subjective but there are also lots of anime in which these roles are very clear cut. If you limit the tag to those kinds of anime (kids shows and many shonens) and define it as referring to those stereotypical evil for the sake of evil bad guys I suppose it could work. I just don't know how practical that is.
I can see where he is coming from with crook. There are lots of rotten conmen and schemers and white-collar crooks in anime. So I can see some merit in it but all of these things would have to be carefully defined and worked out. I don't see any use for a kidnapper tag though. |

if I can chime in here I'd personally I'd love to see a well-defined criminal tag, I know I've looked through the list wondering if there was one a few times already
the rest I don't particularly see as terribly useful |

We've discussed the criminal tag before as character mods, and determined it was just really too vague and subjective to be of use. Way too much gray area. I see where you're coming from, but it would be too difficult to apply consistently.
Perhaps as sothis said, we can look into adding different classes of criminals that are more specific, and would be easier to tag. |

I like the idea of something for conmen, extortionists, and/or other ... small/petty(?) crimes, though "crook" might not be the right term. I've seen several of them in anime, though guidelines would be difficult to hammer out.
The other ideas I'm not liking too much, too much ambiguity and no easy way to write a clear and concise guideline. |

I wonder how well Poacher would go over. We have a few lurking in Pokemon every now and then... However, Murderer would also not work too well. It's a pretty widespread tag. |
