Your info needed: the list bug w/weird items in the feed
 

so that bug where strange stuff is showing up in the feed, with FF10/11 and tab restorings. i've been trying to figure this out but am at a loss - i still think it's related to a race condition with tab restore vs the status/feed functionality but don't think this is something i'll be able to fix. at least, not unless i can get a more solid set of steps to reproduce.

for those of you who ran into this in the past, i have two questions (please don't reply with conjectures about what else could be causing the problem - i only want to know the below two questions):

1. are you still noticing the same issue with FF13? i tested various things with FF13 and can't seem to reproduce, but i could just not be doing the exact same steps

2. if you are experiencing the same issue with FF13, please let me know the EXACT steps of your browser set up and how you use it.

for example, do you always have a tab open with AP, and you put your computer to sleep/turn it back on?

or do you close your browser after each use, and reopen FF and the homepage is set to your AP list?

i need as exact details as possible on what sort of restoring is happening, and what is triggering the restore, so i can try to reproduce it on my machine

Have you tried having AP as a pinned tab in firefox sothis? As the pinned tabs load in the background they seem to load a bit slower on first launch of firefox especially as I have a few of them (I have about 10, lots of social networks and AP so quite a lot of scripts trying load all at once I guess). It might let you recreate the other bugs by slowing down the load causing the race condition if it is one. Only bug I occasionally get with feed is the timeout one as I mentioned in http://www.anime-planet.com/forum/fe...iend-feed.html possibly cause I have AP as a pinned tab. Im on FF13 now, haven't noticed the timeout yet but only had it a short while.

I always shut down, not sure if my bug occurred after a cold start up but there's a good chance of it.
Edit: Happened today in FF13, timeout in friendfeed after turning on PC and loading up firefox.

I'm not sure this is the only way to trigger feed changes, but it certainly is one of them:

If you had opened the anime list sorted by rank on some page and try to restore it later, it will mess up things.
Apparently FF remembers form values solely by their element id, which are always numbered uid0-249 on those pages. So when you restore the tab e.g. the next day, the order of the anime is bound to have changed, but FF still restores the status it remembers - thus messing up everything that doesn't have exactly the same rank as before.

It seems that each anime has a numerical ID, so I suppose this could be fixed by having each select element's ID contain the anime ID, as with the class name.
