Hi,
some short questions regarding the AniDB import, since it seems i lost most of my watched/stalled/watching flags after a recent import :( What flags will be imported from AniDB and how? I mean AniDB has "to watch" and "to get" but with "low, med high" priotity, so will all priority's imported the same? AniDB has no "stalled" or "wont watch" flag, how is this handled? Does the AniDB "Other" flag correspond to something on import? If a series has 12 official episodes and they are marked "watched" in AniDB will the anime also be marked watched after import? I'm not sure why most of my shows ended up "broken", since all official episodes are marked watched in AniDB, but after the import they are either "watching" without any episode info. I'm using Media Portal and MyAnime2 plugin, which will automatically mark watched episodes using AniDB and the idea was to import the AniDB data so my list here is in sync. Any tips, hints? bye Andy |

hey andy,
i'd have to look in the code to see the exact details - i know our hands were kind of tied with how the export file was implemented. we do only have a single 'want to watch' category, with no 'flags', so that would only map to one type, 'want to watch'. i'm not sure what the 'other' flag is, and as far as i know we don't import stalled/wont watch for that very reason, there's no easy way to change over stuff on there to stuff on here. if i remember correctly the only stuff that transfers cleanly, and again this is because of limitations due to how their export file is, is our equivalent of 'watched' and 'watching'. i think all 'to watch' stuff turns into want to watch, and anything else that doesnt match i think goes to 'want to watch' too (or maybe 'watching', based on your results) make sure you're also using the exact export type needed, it's listed on the import page (it's literally only a single type of export that we support, because it was the most consistent of them all)

Just played with imports again. Seems the xml-nx format will import all either as watched or watching. The "watching" also is kinda random and all "want to watch" are flagged as watched, which is kinda problematic. So i still cant recommend to use direct AniDB xml import. Is there a option to "revert" or undo a import?
What seems to work better is to export AniDB to MyAnimeList and than MyAnimeList to Anime-planet, this will retain the "watching, want to watch and watched" status along with the episodes watched. The AniDB ratings are not imported to MyAnimeList, since the xml format don't export those. |
