The topic might have already came up but since i can't seem to find it on the first pages, i though i should ask.
I know how to sub an anime but i was wondering how fansub make those really cool intro and outro karaoke text. Is there a program that they use for that or just the basic sub station alpha and virtualdub? sorry about the noob question...

basic karaoke (just the letter filling part) is done with sub station alpha.
advanced karaoke is coded using advanced sub station commands. read the ass specs document included with the vobsub directshow filter that has the virtual dub filter textsub in it which parses those commands. even more advanced karaoke is usually done with Adobe After Effects. dun know about any documentation to do karaoke with After Effects though.

Here's my karaoke timing guide.
http://www.kasshin.net/karaoke_guide.swf Ask if you have any questions. For effects / styles... just read ass_specs.doc inside your vobsub directory. (Get vobsub from www.doom9.org ) |
