Default ffdshow - custom quality?

Hey, I was wondering if there was something equivalent in ffdshow like the quality control in DivX, for video playback/decoding... because sometimes my CPU usage goes to 100% and then, some A/V desynchronisation is happening, which isn't really enjoyable... currently, I am using the dafault settings for it (newest version).

yes there is, I belive it's under the processing tab. The quality controll in DivX is the same Chroma Deblocking, etc, etc that's there. I think the default is auto tho, which should scale back if you're processor is hitting it pretty hard.

You mean Postprocessing? I don't think it's the same, the name already says that, and by default, Postprocessing is NOT activatet... weird thing.

ya, post processing, that's the one. That's all that the "quality" slider in the DivX codec does, if you turn the quality all the way down to zero, you get the straight up original decompressed image, the higher up you put the quality the more postprocessing is done to the picture to try and remove artifacts, thus why the quality takes up more processing power.

I have had some major performance issues with dual (or greater) monitor systems with multiple video cards. the FFDShow filter dosn't like playing w/ the overlay in all situations, at least w/ the latest nvidia drivers. But in my case it leads to crashes and freezes of the media app.

Thinking of which are you sure that it's working w/ hardware overlays? that is the single largest performance hit you can take with playing videos.

I have a new ATi Radeon 9800pro with the latest Catalst 4.1 drivers... I am pretty sure that'll do ;-)

well sometimes other applications can use the hardware overlay channel up before you start your media player. Like the little mini video preview that comes up in windows explorer, or if you've got any applications set with transparent windows (winamp, deadAim, etc.) those can eat up the overlay and leave your player in software mode regardless of your hardware

ps. I will have that model for you soon, I promise, really!!
