I don't know what do you mean by that but those are facts that are there. Official looking (black background, ATI logos etc) are press release dias that shouldn't be released before 23 September 2009.
If you mean those per cent tables, it has been many years to start from 80%, next line is 20% upper then. Well of course these all might be just marketing bullshit so long as someone reliable source tests them (Tom's Hardware, Muropaketti, Xtremesystems etc) Edit: Today NDA ended and some sites released their first reviews of the card. http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3643 http://hothardware.com/Articles/AMD-...ly-Number-One/ http://techreport.com/articles.x/17618/16 Last edited by FireFlower; 09-23-2009 at 06:18 AM. |

I'm not sure where your getting at with the OC on your i7 from 2.66 to 3.0? That should be easy with any new CPU on air cooling today. Those HD 5870 & 5850 looks pretty good. For the HD 5870 being 100$ less than the GTX 295 it almost keeps from test to test and even passed it on a few. There were still a few instances where the 295 still trumped out the 5870 by a good 20 fps. One thing that has been long over due is the power consumption on the higher end ATI cards. Out of todays to end cards it currently draws the lowest. For 379$ this is a great deal. Also the HD 5850 may be even more worth it at 259$ I would love to see how 2 of those run in crossfire. |

Techreport had Crossfire and GTX 285 SLI tests aswell.
Well anyway I suggest to wait a few weeks when prices for HD 4-series will drop even further. I think HD 4870 will cost soon only 120€ here and HD4890 140-150€ and HD4850 drops to 70-80€. Last edited by FireFlower; 09-23-2009 at 02:53 PM. |

I am well aware of AMD/ATI graphics soluitions and prodocts, in fact i am planning to upgrade to HD5 series. As for Intel and their overclocking support has been always their but as for their own overclocking program, they bookshelved it for now to concentrate on their chip design, production and release, oh and not to forget their concentration of upgrading 3 fab locations in the US.

About coming Core i9 "Gulftown" processors seems to have better boxed cooler than Intel is currently shipping with Core i5, Core i7 or Core2 processors.
![]() Link to news website This seems to be only "engineer" sample too, so final version might be a lightly different but seems like Intel is stepping right into modern air cooler game with their own. 120mm fan has a switch to select speed, heat pipes, aluminium fins and instead plastic plugs this has metal screws. Well possible problems that I noticed: - Fan doesn't have frames, so it pushes air sideways. - Heatpipes seem to be too long (hopefully fixed in final version) - Fins too close --> lots of dust --> Air flow blocked totally --> CPU heats --> Overheat problem? Also because Intel had to redesign whole cooler, it means Gulftown generates awfully lots of heat? Hopefully this is not the case. |

Well its been a week or so with the new system up and running so I figured I post some pic's of the new rig. ^_^
This is actually the first time I went about doing some cable management in a case. I ended up getting this case from a friend as payment for working on a project for him. Its the Lian Li PC-P50R. ATI 4890 Sapphire Vapor-X 1gb. The stock cooling on this card is pretty damn good. Ive oc'd the card to 950MHz GPU and 1100MHz Memory. The Vapor cooling keeps this card at a cool 70c when gaming non stop and idle at 48c... And below is the old Creative SB card from 6 years ago... which surprisingly is still better than the realtek onboard audio. WD Raptor 150GB and 1TB storage. I still need to add the x2 1TB drives. I said I wanted to do water cooling eventually but I decided to try out Corsair's LCLC (low cost liquid cooling) solution. So for I have been impressed at how well it runs and cools the CPU. When I have it oc'd at 3.8 Ill idle at ~37c and full load at ~55c. With the CPU not oc'd at 3.2 I idle at 29c and load at 44c. The normal look before the lights get turned off for some gaming fun. Lights off ^_^ I'm still looking around the some good red cathodes to add in the case for behind the dragon and the bottom. All of the ones I checked out so far have more or an red-orange glow about them. I game on the 19inLCD at 1440x900. The tv is at 1920x1080 Last edited by Lanxdata; 10-13-2009 at 04:37 AM. |
