Default What Hardware to buy...

Well I don't claim to be a total expert on everything, But I do know for sure for certain parts...

If you are looking for a keyboard or a mouse, get logitech, They have the best quality, good prices, and their software kicks ass, My microsoft Mouse still cant use some of its buttons due to sucky software, while the logitech not only has it all, but they keep on chunking newer better softwares that fit all their hardware of this type (one software for all mice, one for all keyboards), and is just geating better and better with new features and optimized performance.

If you want anything to do with networking linksys is the way to go, Like logitch they offer great products, good prices, great support, and continual updates to software and firmwires.....

Oh and both are great in plug and play compatability, unlike many other companies the software isnt needed unless you want the more exotic features, while often the compeditors, like mircrosts mouse i have, doesnt work unless you install their sucky software (its a MS cordless btw....)

Those are two things I can tell you for sure since I tried so many different stuff, Other things like ram and CDs and stuff I have only limited experience with, So if anyone else knows alot aobut one part is particular please share with us...

What NOT to buy: I have a Creative DVD drive for the computer 12X... and it sucks, it has a seek time of 1-6 seconds, everytime it has to spin up and spin doun before it actually starts reading, I just have to wait and wait and wait before it avutally STARTS reading (especially apperant in games where it only asks for something and then lets it go for a few sconds...), it takes it the few milliseconds to read like any other drive once its there, but its just not worth it.

Things I have that are good but I have no clue about the competition:
ASUS CD-RW 32X12X40, a kick ass drive on all levels, great, never messed a CD with buffer underrun, can read and write the most protected of disks (aka WinXP etc), and is FAST, has a seek time of miliseconds, and a spin time of miliseconds, and a fast read and write modes, with it never stopping for a break (you'll be surprised how many drives just "take a break" to spin down and then up again randomly, prolly overheating...)

Also i have a ASUS floppy, its great, I often cant tell its reading cause i cant hear it, and it fast and stable... also looks sleak, and it cost me 8 bucks and 4 shipment...

If you want anything, the best placew to buy it will be www.newegg.com

They have prices that are 50%-70% of what I see on retial (compusa, circuit city, best buy, etc), 70% for retail version, and 50% for oem, they offer LOTS of oem (50% of retial if its oem...). and they have great reliability, and great support, and they dont bitch at you, I bought a CPU with the wrong FSP and it didnt work, they refunded me without as much as charging me the original shipping or the repacking price...

Just want to point out that for the average joe, Linksys is fine. For performance users, Linksys is not the ideal network company to use. Use only Intel, 3COM, Nortel, or Cisco for networking. Those four usually deliver 5-25% faster bandwidth over Linksys and other cheapo brands.

yea... but if you arent the average joe you already know it, and linksys is great with their simplicity of operation, while others are much more complicated...
