Hey, first off-sorry for the stupid question.
Basically just wondering if anyone can help me, about a month ago I had a power cut whilst on the internet and now firefox won't automatically log me into websites anymore. It saves the usernames and passwords but I have to click 'submit' and whatnot. It's not a big problems obviously but I just wondered why this is happening

translation: You lost your cookies, not your saved passwords.
Older versions of firefox saved the cookies in a cookies.txt file in FF's profile folder, I believe FFv3 saves it as cookies.sql or some such. Most likely what happened is that when the power went out, that file got either moved, erased, or glitched. If it got moved then you can recover it, but if it got erased or glitched there's nothing you can do. Does FF remember you now after you log in again? If so, then trying to recover the old cookies file won't be worth the effort. Just log back in to all the sites & start fresh. If it refuses to remember you, then you've got a glitch somewhere. Look in FF's profile folder (should either be in the program folder in in application data), make sure FF isn't running, find the cookies.* file & delete it. (Deleting the cookies file won't hurt anything, it'll just make it so you have to log in again.) The next time you log in, FF will generate a new file & everything -should- work normally. Another thing to do is to go into FF's preferences & make sure you have cookies enabled. The power outage may have screwed up your settings & turned them off.

If you download foxmarks, not only can you save your favourite links, but there is now an option to save your passwords too.
I've only just started trying this, and so I'm only using it for sites that don't matter too much (ebay, anidb etc) and see how I get on. I'd rather not have any banking passwords saved anywhere apart from my brain :p You'd still have to click submit for the first time or so, but it would be autosaved and is an absolute life saver if you have to format your drive. H.
