This is probably realy silly

but how do you make a poll, ive ticked the box at the bottom and chosen how many poll options but i can't find anyway of setting the poll options

Write what you want in the boxes that appear in front of option 1 option 2etc.
Then click submit poll.

You don't set the poll options until after you submit the thread. All you can set before you submit the thread is if you want to include a poll and how many choices the poll has.
