I couldn't find a thread on this because I have no idea why it's there or what it means, I feel pretty stupid, but if anyone could kindly explain/direct me to a thread that would help, I'd be very appreciative.

I don't know that theres a thread, and i've never had it explained to me myself. But I figured it probably signified you being a newbie on the forums by combining the names of 3 or 4 of the really mainstream series that you're likely to watch if your new to anime.
Naru(to) + (Poke/Digi)mon + (Dragonball) Z = Narumon Z |

Wow, a "narumon z" question, been ages since I saw this pop up, it feels very nostalgic. :p
mmag13 is essentially correct. It's simply your user rank here on the forums, comparable to "newbie" on most forums (but with an anime twist), and it is indeed based on naruto/(poke/digi)mon/DBZ. It was put in place when those series were the most common anime by far in the US, when it was impossible to turn on the TV without seeing all 4 of them within 10 minutes. It's lost a bit of it's meaning now that most of them have faded. This isn't really the right section for this thread though, either general discussion of the request & questions sections would have been better. (This section is more for people to write up long explanations for things, than to ask questions.) No big deal though.

yeah i never knew what that title was supposed to mean until today XD
but its actually a pretty appropriate title since before i joined anime planet i only ever just watched whatever was airing on TV which would be Toonami (when i was growing up) but it was only after watching Code Geass and Death Note on Adult swim that i actually became interested in becoming anything more than a casual anime fan. 220 animes later here i am lol |

100 posts is the threshold.

If you go to the forum members list & check out people with a given number of posts, you can figure out where the thresholds for each rank are;
narumon z = 0-99 anime fan in training = 100-499 experienced anime fan = 500-799 anime guru = 800-999 otaku = 1000-2999 my dna is made of anime = 3000+ Also, you can find out interesting things such as the fact that approx 25,000 out of our nearly 29,000 members have 0 posts, and only about 2,000 people have more than 10 posts. What's worse is that out of those 29,000 members, only about 750 have been active enough to graduate out of the narumon z (n00b) stage.
