Anne Hathaway Is Selina Kyle In "Dark Knight Rises" - Comic Book Resources

Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” She will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Christopher Nolan stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”

In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.” Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven. “The Dark Knight Rises” is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

I am excited as hell about Bane. He is an awesome character that got relegated to a mute brute in Batman & Robin, and I'd love him to get a moment to shine. I wonder if they'll do the whole Broken Bat storyline? It seems like the logical thing to do if you've got Bane around, but I don't know if I'd want to see a movie where Batman spends half the running time in traction.

I don't like Anne Hathaway, and I don't see how she fits as Catwoman. Eartha Kitt, and Michelle Pfeiffer are the best Catwomen. I don't think Hathaway has what it takes to compete with them.

So Bane is in it now? A great opportunity for Nolan to revive one of Batman's greatest villains and portray him like it should be. Along with Deadpool in the "X-Men Origins" movie, the Bane in "Batman & Robin" was one of the most insulting depictions of a comic book character to me. In the comics he's highly intelligent and and talks in a very sophisticated manner, yet in the movie he can't even form full sentences... wtf?

I was also hoping for Selina Kyle/Catwoman to be in this movie, but I think that Anne Hathaway is a bit too 'cute' to portray her character. I don't see that untamed, mysterious aura (which Michelle Pfeiffer had) with her. But let's see and wait, everyone complained about Heath Ledger playing the Joker at first and we all know how that ended.

I think she will be fine. She has the looks, if she knows how to play she should make great cat. And sweet looks are obligatory - don't forget catwoman is an alter. In everyday life she should look cute and innocent.

I'm more worried about the movie in general. Dark Knight wasn't as good as first one in new series. Ending was absurd and rushed, this doesn't bode well.

I think the title derives from what happens to Batman when he sees Catwoman in her skin tight costume.

Anyway it looks like Nolan is going to make Catwoman into some kind of vigilante according to IGN. Catwoman will be fill in for a reclusive Batman.
