I think most of you have seen it already. Here's the third trailer for those of you who haven't:

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer #3

Another well-done trailer, even though I think it already reveals too much of the plot. Anyway, I'm certain now that we're looking at something great here and a worthy conclusion to the Nolanverse of Batman. Now if only The Amazing Spider-Man turns out decent, it will be a great summer of superhero blockbusters (The Avengers set the bar high already, imo).

Has anyone seen it?

I've watched it at the Smithsonian theatre in DC.

I keep missing a chance to see it. Is the Smithsonian Theater a nice venue to watch it?

It's an IMAX theater.

I planned to watch it in IMAX.

Well, I will tell you if I ever get that amazing moment where I can make it to the theater.

Am I the only one who thought this movie was rather underwhelming as a whole? I love Batman and everything, but TDKR just doesn't come off great the way everyone else says it is. Batman Begins was good and The Dark Knight was amazing, but in TDKR I felt like it dragged on quite a bit, Bane was pretty uninteresting as a villain too. I loved Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and thought the last 45 or so minutes of the film was complete gold, but everything else was up and down, especially in the first hour.

My personal opinion is the this one should have been the middle film. It's still awesome though, but the series should have closed with the Joker. I don't find Bane all that iconic.

Pretty much what I thought of the movie. Even though the last 45 minutes were packed with action, I didn't give a shit about what was going on whatsoever. You didn't feel involved at all. TDKR was "ok" but definitely not a milestone like so many people make it out to be. Personal disappointment of the year.

What pisses me off even more is how everyone now says the next Batman franchise should under all circumstances be a continuation of the Nolanverse. Why? I liked the realistic approach but I don't want to get used to it. I'd rather have someone take it back to its comic roots and show more supernatural villains again.

Now I fear for the decency of the Superman movie.

I appreciate what Tom Hardy tried to do with him, but Bane is just known for breaking Batman. That's what everyone knows, it's what we saw, and he just doesn't bring anything to the table but the generic "dwarf the hero" villain. It also didn't help that the whole Talia al Ghul shoehorn took away from Bane's character. It made him just come off as a lackey to me.

I agree. A good comic book film doesn't have to be grounded in reality like Nolan's movies, and the next Batman series certainly doesn't have to limit itself by trying to play in Nolan's world. I feel if they did that it would be similar to how Bryan Singer tried to have Superman Returns continue Richard Donner's Superman films. It was interesting, but just didn't feel right.
