A simple thread.....do you enjoy playing older games over newer ones? Would you rather play Pac-Man or even Sonic the Hedgehog over something like Bioshock? Is the newest game console you have a Nintendo Entertainment system? If so, this is the place to talk about it. Post anything you like about your "retro" gaming experience in here.
My personal favorites are pac-man, the original Super Mario Bros., the first Half-Life game, the Legend of Zelda, and Frogger. I also consider some of the original Playstation and early X-Box games close to being retro games now since they are kind of obsolete, you're welcome to list those here as well. (I didn't mention Playstation 2 because they are still making games for that system.) |

I keep thinking about buying a console, but I'd need to buy a TV too and I don't think it'd be worth it. I used to like retro games, but when I went to university I sold my MS and all the games and havent looked back.

I enjoy playing the old Megaman, Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Contra, Alien vs. Predator and Strider. Though I'm a bigger fan of 2-D fighters like Street Fighter, and in particular Marvel Super Heroes, and Marvel Vs. Capcom 1 & 2.
I also play Age of Mythology which is a RTS for the PC, that might be considered "retro" as it's pretty much obsolete nowadays. |

I play every now and then, but I've played my favorite retro games so much. It's sad, but I'm kind of tired of them. That's why I only play occasionally. That way I can still have fun, without getting sick of it. Turtles in Time is a definite when I get with my friends.

Meh, my parents kept all the old systems and then sold them in a yard sale. I was pretty aggravated about that. We had like 40 different genesis games, 40 different n64 games, ton of the gameboy brick games

Currently, I play a lot more older games than newer ones and still have all my systems dating back to the 16bit era plugged into my TV.
Never bought any 8bit consoles though, couldn't find enough games I liked. Most recently, I've been digging through Dreamcast, Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube games to see if I missed anything. Although, I'd hardly call that retro. Going to start sifting through the SNES, Genesis(Mega Drive), and PS1 collections after I finish that. Started looking through the Saturn list a little bit as well as I never bought one, so I'm figuring out if there's enough games on it I like to even get one in the first place. |

I play them every now and then. Granted most are ROMs, although once you plug in your computer to your TV and use a gamepad it works just as the the original way. Not the same experience, but good enough since I don't have any old consoles around.
Sometimes in a world where aesthetic is worth more than substance it's nice to sit back and appreciate the simpleness.
