All I can say is WOW. I'm surprised no one has started a thread on this yet. It looks absolutely amazing with a not so unique storyline but still looks good regardless of that. Today's the first time I've seen any type of preview for it.

It does look like it will kick ass, don't get me wrong. However, when I look at them, all I can think is "Oompa Loompa".

You know, I kinda like the creatures that I saw on the trailer (the animation was kick-ass), but the blue make-up is kinda... Overused when it comes to science fiction movies. T_T

That's not gonna stop me from watching this, though

True, but that's not makeup. All the blue-skinned aliens are completely CGI creations, and that's a main selling point of the movie. Will it finally break the uncanny valley and give us functionally 'human' characters who can have the whole range and depth of a human performance even though they're entirely CGI? That's a tall order, even if we've gotten fairly close with the likes of Gollum in the LOTR films.

Now I've seen some very mixed reactions to the trailers (leaning towards hate of it, actually), but I place myself mostly in the cautiously optimistic camp. The story and designs look like nothing new, the dialogue in the new trailer is mostly trite, but hey - weird alien planet, exotic looking alien creatures, how bad can it be? Eh?

I should probably look this movie up. I'm interested in seeing it, but I'm not sure exactly what it's about. I've seen some pictures of it and it looks good.

I actually saw the trailer for it while watching footbal on Sunday. I was like "Whoah, what's this movie?" and then I saw that it said Avatar, so the I was like "wait, isn't that nothing like what Avatar is supposed to be like (mixed it up with Avatar the Last Air Bender)?"

I'm intrigued, but I got a big feeling of District 9 deja vu watching the trailer.

To lazy to research it, but is this based on anything? Is it a book, a game, a previous movie?

No, it's an original screenplay that James Cameron's had since the mid-1990s (so having the same name as the cartoon is a coincidence).

Never underestimate Hollywood's ability to balls up something that according to the laws of Physics could never be ballsed up.

Incidentally, the trailer looks great (apart from the corny 'THIS IS OUR LAND' speech). Has me interested in something I never bothered with. Is it based on a game called Avatar or on the cartoon called Avatar the Last Airbender? Or neither?

Niether, it's something Cameron wrote like 15 to 20 years ago and he finally has the technology to make it come to life.
