So the console version of Borderlands dropped today in North America (the EU has to wait until 23rd). Anyone else going to play/playing it? Personally, I am more of a PC player so I have to wait until the 26th, but from what I've seen you have no idea how pumped I am.
Use this thread to hook up with other players, trade items, compare builds, gloat over your shotgun that fires pistols that fire assault rifles that fire acid rockets which explode into flaming motorcycles. Find me on Thistledown on Steam. I usually don't play with strangers (you all), but I might be persuaded if no one else is on. EDIT: GameRanger for PC multiplayer. Use it, love it. Haha, I'm talking to a couple friends in ventrilo about Borderlands at this exact moment. We were all gonna dl it and play it on hamachi for the co-op, we all thought that it didn't look good enough to buy without testing it, but the more I look at the game, the cooler and cooler it looks. I'm still a little hesitant to shell out $50 for the PC copy, especially with L4D2, MW2, and Dragon Age all coming out within a couple weeks.
If I really enjoy the game, I'd definitely have no qualms about dropping the money to buy it. |

Borderlands has been simply amazing. But I had trouble with the multiplayer. So last night I was trying to host a game for me and a friend. We were getting incredibly frustrated as neither of us could connect to each other. So today I decided to look into the problem, and it seems other people are ALSO having troubles. The most common problem (and it was the problem we were having also) is that the ports it told us to have open in the readme weren't open. Being that we both had gotten it through Steam, the readme wasn't exactly presented to us. It worked for us and maybe it will work for you too.
Make sure the following ports are open! 7777 (TCP/UDP) 28900 (TCP) 27900 (UDP) 28910 (TCP) Now I am no computer expert at all and I couldn't tell you the difference between TCP or UDP off the top of my head, but I can tell you how I opened the ports. (Hopefully someone will either clean up my explanation or make it a tad more universal) This is for XP using the Windows Firewall, and I have no clue if it is different in Vista or W7, or any other firewall, but I imagine the principles are mostly the same. 1. Go to Network Connections. (I did this from My Network Places > 'View network connections' in the sidebar but the control panel works just fine) 2. Go to Properties on the internet connection you use. 3. Advance tab, Settings button. 4. This brings you to the Windows Firewall panel, go to the Exceptions tab. 5. You will want to go to 'Add port...' near the bottom of the panel. 6a. Give your exception a name. I used 'Borderlands Multiplayer (port) (type)' so it looked like 'Borderlands Multiplayer 28900 TCP' 6b. Enter the port number in the 'Port number:' 6c. Select either TCP or UDP. Click okay. Repeat 6 for each port. I made two entries for 7777; one for TCP and one for UDP. I don't know if that was necessary, but I don't think it hurt. 7. Go play Borderlands with your buddies! Again, if anyone wants to help construct more universal instructions or clean up mine and remove unnecessary steps, please do so! |

Thanks. I'll try that. I've had bad luck trying to play online
If you preordered on Steam you could have gotten it for $45. Saved me $5. If you bought three, then it was $35 per game. Then you probably could have sold the other two copies on paypal or something. |

I am absolutely loving this game. There are a lot of issues, but they barely detract from the experience. Basically put anime a bit on hold because of this game ><.
Is it just me, or does anyone else wish there was a bank in this game? I just want to collect all my awesome guns together, but keeping them in inventory is such a hassle when your constantly selling junk. Load times on the PS3 version I have are very slow too. Oh, and I would have loved 4 player split screen on the console versions. Although 2 player is pretty much nice enough (I have 3 roommates, and it would have been nice to play altogether). |
