I used to be the same way as well. Now it takes a good 30 min or so to get used to using a controller again. You get 10 times, maybe 20 times more versatility using a keyboard and mouse playing an FPS then you do with a controller.

With that said.. I haven't actually played a console whatsoever in over a year even though I'm dying to because some of the RPGs look great.

I use a very wierd mouse/controller cannibalized setup where I control my vision and firing with my mouse, but movement and other functions with my pad. It works really well, save the fact that I had to toy with the .ini files to get Borderlands to recognize both the mouse and the pad at the same time. Best of both world, in my opinion~

Also, you always wonder why most fps have auto aim assist? it's because controllers are so shitty, people can't pull of precise shots, so they add the crap. God, I will never get rid of my mouse/keyboard. In fact, I carry around spare WASD keys in my pocket!

Which brings us to this: the new Battlefield is supposed to allow xbox and pc players to play on same servers.

Somehow I find it difficult to believe - auto aim on console side would ruin the game for PC players. Without aa on the other hand it would be slaughter of xboxers.

Alls I know is, 1- there better be some damn jets. 2- Don't fucking make the aa so god damn over powered, and make the mig immune to the missles. 3- Don't fucking destroy every fun aspect of the game with patches.

Seriously, they just took away every thing I did in BF2. I used to fly hardcore, I loved how the missiles were hard to hit. I used to switch my payload to bombs, so I wouldn't look on and give my self away, I'd fly right on there ass and gun them down before they knew what hit them, now that was fun.

I also used to take helicopters up in the air by myself, I'd switch to the gunner seat and fire off a tv guided missile and take down a vehicle then switch back to pilot seat real quick.

They took away squad hopping. They nerfed going crouched and prone, by adding a stupid 1 second delay. They got rid of jumping and shooting. They made flying impossible, because some asshole half way across the map would lock on and take you down no matter what you did, unless of course you were inthe mig which was immune... Fuck EA ruined that game. They better not screw BF3 up!


Frankly, I'm looking forward to owning some console noobs, showing them how a mouse and keyboard works! At the same time, I hope they don't cater to console gamers and throw in any of that horrible shitty aiming assist.

I skipped BF2 (played demo and some cracked version for few days). I loved BF2142 - I still play it from time to time. It got less attention so they allowed it to remain hardcore.

Got the game myself and noticed some mouse lag and other glitches in the game. Other then that its pretty darn cool and I'm enjoying it. Hopefully they will release a patch for the game soon to fix things. Again very cool game.

That issue is one I frequently have with mouse smoothing. Here's a quick way to turn off mouse smoothing.

1. Find your config files. By default they are in Doc\My Games\Borderlands\WillowGame\Config\
2. BACK THEM UP! I just copy the whole folder and name it Base Config.
3. In WillowInput.ini, find the entry "bEnableMouseSmoothing=True" and change it to False.
4. Save and play the game!
