It is on my check out list sometime near January. Hopefully they will fix the bugs until then.

So, I found GameRanger for multiplayer. It is a ton better than GameSpy and port opening seemingly doesn't need to happen. It nice for my poor PC to use less CPU. Or rather, use all the CPU not has hardcore.

...yes, that isn't grammatically correct, but I dunno how to word it.

The game itself uses gamespy for servers. There's really no way around that
You dont have to run the GS client for it

GameRanger has no ties to GameSpy that I know of. The way GameRanger works seems just to create a VPN hosted on the GameRanger servers, since you use the LAN option, not the online option. So, yes, there is a way around it.

Little tip, you do not have to buy the game in order to play online, hell you don't even need to be running Hamachi or Game Ranger, just need a gamespy account, so torrent away. If you like it though, buy it.

Yeah, but you better buy it if you can afford it, don't be a thief.

If that is the case then you are going to have to prey you are near that person because it's gonna be like using hamachi. When you have a high ping it sucks. But even with that it's still like playing on GS because there are no dedicated servers. Yea it's a way around it but no huge difference. Let alone that requires others to use it. While when playing online you dont need to run a seperate client which is a plus over that.

i would never buy a game like this on the computer. I dont like the feel of using a keyboard and mouse o play them game. I like to hold the controller while playing the game.

I thought like that too, a long time ago. How the hell are you supposed to play a fps without a joystick, but you have WAY more control over movement. In fact, I sit there and think, how the hell are you supposed to play a fps without a keyboard and mouse.
