This is pretty much the same thing as the "What I just finished watching and what I thought about it" thread and is pretty self-explanatory. Just make a post stating what video game you just finished playing and then what you thought about it.
I'm sorry if a thread like this already exists and I missed it when using the search function. I'll start off. Europa Universalis III This was a VERY fun game. A lot of the fun came from just trying to figure out how to play the game as no manual comes with it (Not that anyone ever reads those things anyways :P). Almost every time I played it I learned something new about the game. With conquering other countries, taking over the world militarily and economically, and the game's complexity, this was a blast. One of the coolest parts about the game is how easily you can edit it. The save files and settings for the game are all in text files so changing small and large parts of the game is fairly simple and allows for a plentiful supply of great user made mods. The only fault I could really find with it was it took FAR too many resources than it should for a game that really doesn't offer much in the ways of graphics. With over 250 hours played before getting bored, this was a great game and the best $10 I've ever spent. 10/10 Portal This was a very nice short and humorous puzzle game. The graphics were quite nice while not being too resource intensive. I've always wanted to use blur and AAx8 in an FPS and still get 60fps ^^ 9/10 |

Valkyria Chronicles: Fun!!! This game takes strategy to a new level with extremely variable hit opportunities (unlike a lot of games now which tell you to the HP what you'll do) that really adds variables and makes you plan out things and have to react even more. I love strategy games with variables that make you have to adjust on the fly. I've also fallen in love with the auto-counter mechanism I first saw in Jeanne d'Arc which again throws another variable into things. And this is the first third-person shooter-esque game I've loved since Jet Force Gemini (yeah, THAT long ago). The only things I didn't like was how a lot of the levels you could capture the base while still technically surrounded (Recapturing Bruhl can be done in one turn) and how SHORT the game is.
A fun new strategy experience that can really test your ability to deal with the unexpected variables this game can throw at you. And for those of you who have to have your entire strategy planned out from turn 1, you can always abuse the save function. The Good - Gorgeous visuals and amazing music (this is the guy that did FFT, Vagrant Story, GrimGrimoire, and FFXII) - FREE ROAMING FIELD!! (Why only Phantom Brave and Makai Kingdom are the only other two to do this?! All the different strategies and variables that come with a free roaming field make these games so much better than any other strategy games) - Multiple variables like ducking, interception fire, counter fire, potentials (good and bad) really can force you to change your approach multiple times in one round. Having to rescue your fallen comrades in 3 turns AND before an enemy gets to them throws another variable. The Bad - SHORT! (18 chapters totaling about 21 battles + a few skirmishes + 5 or so extra chapters) Have to buy the DLC . . . ![]() - Story is nowhere near well fleshed-out - The tanks are worthless in most of the levels and do nothing but drain your command points - Game is incredibly skewed towards scouts and snipers with engineers as the de facto backup. Once you get demolition boost, you don't even need Lancers anymore except for a couple bosses. I can juice up Alicia to wipe out all the tanks in one level for less command points than using Lancers.

When one gets bored of playing it and most likely won't play it again for many many months.

Ok, I finished Metroid Prime 2: Echos a couple of hours ago and I gotta say that it was shorter than I remembered it and not quite as good, even if it was awesome. Although this time I got 1 less energy tank, 3 less missile expansions and I didn't get the burst cannon for the last weapon (the one that uses both dark and light energy). I also gotta say that the final boss was alot easier than I remembered it to be. Maybe Matroid Prime 3 is just that much harder. I recall it to be much harder at least. And much more annoying as well, with all that traveling between planets. I can't remember a goddamn thing from the first one though, which is why I just ordereed and will play it in a few days :)
Although before that I have planned to play both Yoshi's Island and Golden Sun. Anyway, since I love making lists I've made a top 7 list of my favorite games: 1. Warcraft III + The Frozen Throne 2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3. Super Mario 64 4. Final Fantasy VII 5. World of Warcraft (Yes, I do think it's that much fun) 6. Counterstrike 7. Diablo II + Lord of Destruction

According to this definition I just finished Risen in 45 minutes. Boring shit - same gameplay as Gothic but I guess I am too old for this grind. |

Yes, you dirty spammer, lol.
But seriously no - some spammer posted wall of text about converting HD video clips or something but mods must have deleted it already :-) |
