Ready for another of purplemo's patented long posts?
So the new Fate Unlimited Codes is out (actually for a few weeks now), and those that preordered got a very pretty Saber Lily figure. I'm willing to bet a lot of people got the game just for the figure (crap you'd think there's enough Sabers out there what with normal Saber and Black Saber and Saber Alter; next will be Red Saber . . . oh wait, there's one of those too! ). Heck, I even considered pre-ordering the damned thing till I realized how little I liked Saber outside the games ;p. And I'm willing to bet that figure will cost a fortune too.Anyways, the main reason I brought this up is because of FUC. I was looking forward to this one, but it looks like it's just another one of those damned Japanese fighters where all you do is loop through cheap combos over and over and over and over again. I don't know why the Japanese love these kind of fighters. It does not look fun at all to me personally, and I wouldn't be surprised if the computer is programmed to run through the same loops again and again. Well, yet another reason to invest in a PS3 off the list (I'm too lazy to mod another PS2). At least they have a nice roster. I see Luvia, Zero Lancer , Dark Sakura , Bazett , and Leysritt for example. Dark Sakura's one creepy ass girl, but I love her regardless.Guess I should stick to waiting for Actress Again. Hopefully they won't turn it into a cheap combo loop (though Act Cadenza is pretty cheap at times too). It actually looks a lot like Act Cadenza, which isn't a bad thing. Hopefully a Kara no Kyoukai fighter will come too. Or maybe they will mix them all up like Eternal Fighter Zero . Imagine Shiki v Shiki v Shiki or Azaka v Akiha.Anyways, I'll leave you with these pics of Saber Lily and a couple vids. Check out how Dark Sakura finishes off Luvia. And the classic Luvia attacks. Maybe if they ever do a Fate/hollow ataraxia anime . . . Good ol Eternal Fighter Zero.
Still one of my favorite fighting games ever made. I still play it from time to time too. Considering what type of game it is, vs releases by actual companies, it always amazes me how they got EFZ so right, yet so many other fighters seem done so horribly wrong. |

Yeah, it's a pretty good old school fighter. I'm not all that fond of these new 2D fighters that live off of double digit combo counts. Still, when FUC comes out on the PC I'll still get it if only because it actually has the good Fate characters, unlike all the crappy ones in the anime. |

Personally I'm not really into cheap combos so I wouldn't shell out the kind of money that game's worth for the game now that I know.
EFZ looks more fun personally (actually it's more fun than most doujin fighters period). You should try that. And if you haven't already, Melty Blood. FUC is pretty though, I'll give it that. And I'll still get it once it comes out on PC just to try it out. ;p That is after I'm done playing the new Higurashi Daybreak (PSP) and Fate Tiger Colosseum. |

pretty much you buy a figure for 150 and get a game for free
one more thing, this does not make sense http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...n-70-2olb.html http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...n-70-2olc.html |

MBAC doesn't have any cheap combo loops thanks to the 3 wall/ground bounce rule, proration, and meter use. Some characters do have some loops but they aren't "cheap" in the sense that it makes them broken. It just means they're able to keep up with the rest of the cast. Quote:
You can play it on PC. Not very well if your PC isn't godlike.

I didn't mean the ripped PS2 iso. And I don't have the horses to run it anyways.
Combos are cheap in my book if you can loop them like that continuously. |

But that's how the game is played, so it's not cheap. It's just how the combo system is built. If you're incapable of doing combos then it's I wouldn't bother with this game, LoL. If that's the case then it still wouldn't be considered cheap, just hard because you can't do it and others can. It's only cheap if only a few characters can do it and it boosts their meterless combo damage from the normal 3k to like 6-7k. You can only get so many reps in a loop since they don't get knocked up in the air as high after so many hits much like Guilty Gear. The combos are just really long and complicated.
Take Melty Blood for example. Sure there are some loops but let's take a simple "non-loop" meterless combo from Nanaya: 2a 2b 5c 2c 5b j.b j.c dj.b dj.c air throw. Which does about 1/3 HP (depending on the character). Then take Rider's meterless j.b loop: 5a 2b 5b 5c 646b 623a hj.b hj.c 6239a j.b j.c 6239a hj.b hj.c (whiff) 6239a j.b j.c 6239a 2369bc Which does about 'almost' 1/3 HP. It's just how the game was meant to be played. These characters don't have infinites anyway (that are found yet) unlike XvsS, MvC2, HnK, MBAA, MBAC ver A, MBR, ect. It may be more considered cheap if the other character has an infinite while your character doesn't. Even then it's not you're not guaranteed a win if your characters have an infinite. And it can become less cheap if both characters are capable of infinites. Then the point of the game then becomes trying to get one another in their infinites. It doesn't appear like complicated combo heavy fighters are your specialty. Might I suggest Crucis Fatal Fake, 3rd Strike, Glove on Fight, or Scarlet Weather Rhapsody.
