With the growing popularity of anime in the western world, many animation companies in the U.S. and elsewhere have begun to emulate the style of anime in creating their own shows. What are some western shows with an anime style that you enjoy?
Here are two of my favorites: Teen Titans Probably the best "kids" animated show I've ever seen. It has a really nice blend of comedic moments and drama. In particular, I thought Raven was very well developed as character. The fact that she's voiced by the always entertaining Tara Strong is just a bonus. The Boondocks Goddamn if this isn't the most subversive and hilarious show I've ever seen. Aaron McGruder is a genius at taking the things like race relations and tearing them apart with vicious satirical wit. |

![]() Samurai Jack. I really don't remember much about it from when I watched years ago, other than enjoying it. =P I also loved Boondocks. Haven't kept up with it though. |

MY DNA IS MADE UP OF ANIME

"irony" being that it is a Korean studio that animated it. That still makes me raise the question of why South-Korea doesn't have a bigger, more influential animation and manhwa industry than it seems to do. I've read some Korean Manhwas. High School is fucking badass, and Tower of God is just... just fucking incredible! I'd totally love seeing both animated. The confusing thing with Manhwa though is how Koreans read from left to right, but your mind keeps saying "manga", so you find yourself accidentally reading the wrong way. |

A lot of American cartoons are animated in Korea. It's not that unusual or anything. I remember the Animaniacs being animated in Japan and South Korea. If you payed very close attention, you can tell which episode was animated where.

A lot of Japanese animation is worked on by Koreans too.
Sometimes it is clean up or secondary animation. But if you look at an anime list on ANN and you see names like Park, Soo, Dong, Ne, Noon, Suk those are not Japanese working. a good example, http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ency...ime.php?id=247 scroll down to the names for the in-between animation. |
