MY DNA IS MADE UP OF ANIME

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World
The apocalypse isn’t a bad pretext for hooking up, but it’s somewhat high-risk: what if you regretted your choice of soulmate? The 1998 Canadian film Last Night, which was terrific, wondered what lonely folk might do with their final hours, and didn’t shy away from the possibility of getting them all wrong. The deadline in the quite-a-lot-less-terrific Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is more like a month. Many opt for suicide after a mission to deflect the asteroid fails, and it looks like our hero, Dodge (Steve Carell), might be heading that way. His wife has walked out, and a career in insurance feels like a cosmic joke. Enter Penny (Keira Knightley), the helpfully available lass next door, and a character type perfectly defined as “Manic Pixie Dream Girl”. Natalie Portman played one in Garden State, Kirsten Dunst in Elizabethtown. I’m being harsh, but Lorene Scafaria’s film unfortunately invites a lethal dose of scepticism towards its cutesy last-ditch matchmaking, obligatory road-trip plotting, and thinly funny jibes at the rest of humankind. 5/10 |

Let The Right One In
A 2008 Swedish vampire movie based on the novel Låt den rätte komma in by John Ajvide Lindqvist. A bullied boy named Oskar befriends vampire girl Eli and slowly they form a close bond. Even though there's a few head-scratchers and some of the characters are a bit one-dimensional (mainly the bullies who torture Oskar at school), the story is superbly written and the movie effectively deals with issues like isolation and loneliness. Most of the actors do a great job, especially the kids. This is basically Twilight done right. It's touching, sad, gory and just beautifully shot. I really liked it. There's also a 2010 US remake (of course...) called 'Let Me In'. It's supposed to be pretty good as well, but I doubt that I'll be watching it anytime soon. 8.5/10 |

SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron
I miss cartoons like this; dark and grimly colored, action-packed, violent and entertaining in some way. It really made me pine for the days of the old Hanna-Barbera/early Cartoon Network, where cartoons were getting interesting. The show was just great. The animation is a bit dated since it was from 1993, but at the same time, the designs were actually more human-like than cat-like, and the animation was pretty consistent, not bad for its time. The characters are highly likable, the action is wonderful! So many explosions and Not to mention that new characters are introduced in the second season to add to the cast, and the second season is recognizably darker in color and content, and edgier in design. Given, this is your typical Villain/Monster of the Week kind of show, but it plays it like an older teens cartoon and does it successfully. It is probably one of the most action-packed, hilarious, addicting cartoon of the 90s, and of all time. And ya can't go wrong with cats >w< 8/10 |

The Amazing Spider-Man
So if Spider-Man was an awkward teen with no sense of humor, zero personality and was constantly on crack, this is what he would be like? Not exactly what I thought they meant by "alternate reality" but alrighty then.

I love his sense of humour in the original cartoons! It's hilarious! I've yet to watch The Amazing Spider-Man, but I was really hoping his character would be more like it originally is. His sense of humour is half of the show... Another thing that just annoys me is that he's always made to be so scrawny.

Yeah...you're not gonna like this movie. No witty one liners from our favorite web-head. Just a bunch of whining and being awkward (not the typical "I'm awkward so I'll start talking like my life depended upon it", no, this is the "Awkward silence, fidget, look down, do a stupid laugh" kind of awkward) with the glassiest set of eyes ever. He really does act like he was on crack.

The issue is that I can't not watch even though I know it's gonna be a disappointment, and that just sounds horrible...
I've been trying to convince myself that I should stop expecting so much from movies that aren't originally scripted to be a film... For one it would make it a whole lot more enjoyable...

Boondocks S1 and S2, I feel bad for laughing so much while watching this show
AlthoughI'm not sure if this show is one of the best cartoons I've ever watched or complete garbage...
