I'll take your word on that for now - I might fall into watching them later due to sheer curiosity, but for now there's just so much I'd rather watch instead of a nearly suredisappointment. I'm not much of a movie watcher at all, nearly as little as I am a book reader, but I'm trying to change both of those.
By the way, watched Saw II today. Pretty sick as it was to be expected (in case there are doubts, that's positive), not as many logic holes as in the first regarding how to solve the games/situations but also a somewhat less grabbing story progression. I liked how they linked to many things from the first film, solved some questions and kept on with the twists, albeit these were way more predictable. And John is undoubtedly fucked up, but I can't say he doesn't have a point or two amidst his personal sea of insanity.

The Muppets: Fantastic! The sheer amount of nostalgia it piled on just blew me away - I never realised how much I missed the chickens until they appeared on screen... Plus it's a really well put together movie in its own right! |

One of the main reasons the new Muppet movie rocked was because it didn't take itself very seriously and they broke the fourth wall even more often than usual. Also, how can you not love Gonzo's first appearance in the movie or Dave Grohl as a drummer in Fozzie's band? Also, the scene when they restore the old theatre was quite emotional. The plot itself was pretty much just a mash-up of older Muppet flicks and not that interesting.

The Hunger Games
I went to see it without expecting much, but I'm actually pleasantly surprised. It's a decent movie, with quite an interesting plot. Of course, when I first heard about the story, 'Battle Royale' immediately popped into my mind. But I have to say that it's very different. They're clearly two seperate stories that just happen to share a common theme. The only thing that really bothered me were the action scenes, or rather, how they were shot. Now, I don't mind the shaky camera technique. It conveys the idea of confusion and speed really well, but honestly... I'd like to have at least one action sequence where I can actually see what's happening... I can't wait to read the books now. |

Nightmare Before Christmas
The very best of my childhood in 73 fucking minutes. I really got emotional by all the nostalgia with this one, it's unfair how I actually got goosebumps and even nearly cried in several parts. So much awesomeness... You see, a couple days ago I watched ''The Corpse Bride'' for the first time and I thought it sucked compared to my faint memories of what Nightmare Before Christmas had been for me... so I decided I just had to check it out again to see if older me was being a fair judge. And yeah, he totally was. Even without the demolishing nostalgia factor it was a much more original, interesting, fun, delighfully ornamented dark fantasy for children and adults with an inner child alike. GF will probably laugh at me when I tell her all this, even though she's even more of a Tim Burton fan than myself and shouldn't have any right to. ō_ķ

How High
One of the unfunniest stoner buddy flicks I ever had to sit through. Not even Cypress Hill could save this movie. 2-/5 |
