Default Japanese movies

Can anyone recommend any good modernish Japanese movies?
I really need to watch more Japanese films but I seem to have seen all the typically recommended stuff.

I would also like to know if there is any good new Japanese movies :)

Been watching a lot of them in the past, don't have a list and can barely remember any names, only a few stand out in my memory.. But have you seen All About Lily Chou-Chou?

Easy; almost anything by Mitani Koki, especially:

Rajio no Jikan
The Uchouten Hoteru
Za Majikku Awa
Warai no Daigaku

They're almost perfect. If you like horror, my favorite one was Kairo.
I also liked Love Letter, which is another Iwai Shunji one.

I've seen Kurosawa's Rashomon. I wasn't really impressed, but it seems like it was extremely influential. I still want to see Seven Samurai.

Hidden Fortress is the best imo.
