I looked at some of those pics, the artwork is great. Those cards are a lot better than magic the gathering visually, which I played once upon a time when dinosaurs still roamed the earth.

I still play Magic. ^_^ ... >_>

Anywho, could you clarify (I don't have the means to download it right this second), what exactly this is? I hear card game, but then I see this special move thing... Is it a fighting game? That just happens to have a huge fanbase, which in turn produces a ton of storylines and backgrounds to support MORE fighting games?

Sorry, I just don't see exactly what this is (and I don't know what bullet hell is, despite the kind translation..), but it does look and sound pretty awesome. ^_^'

<<< Clueless.

It's not a card game. It is a danmaku (bullet hell) series with one fighter spinoff and one Pokemon Snap spinoff. The world of Touhou (Gensokyo) is so big and filled with unique characters that it has spun off probably the largest doujin fan base in Japan (bigger than Key or TYPE-MOON pre-commercialization).

Think of like Star Trek where all there is was a TV series and some movies, but the fanbase has created conventions, models, language, and its own culture. Touhou is like that. It is an otaku culture. There are thousands of fan-based doujins, hundreds of fan-based doujin games, MANY Touhou only cons in Japan, an ungodly amount of fanart, and crazy amount of theories about this and that floating around.

The biggest selling point of the Touhou series (other than its amazing and fun characters) is the wonderful music and beautiful danmaku patterns.

Did I mention I was on a Mac? I'm on a Mac.

The Touhou Project (東方Project, Tōhō purojekuto?), also known as Toho Project or Project Shrine Maiden, is a series of manic shooters made by Team Shanghai Alice. They are notable for being successful dōjin soft because of their intricate bullet patterns, their greater focus on characters than most shooter games, and being a one-man project.
I've heard that there's an arcade game for Xbox360 that is very similar to this, can't remember the name though. Or maybe you've heard of Tyrian for PC?
Like Purplemo, there's more than just that to Touhou, but most of the games are shooters. You control a flying chick, avoid the bullets the enemies are shooting at you while destroy them one by one.

I don't know why I'm re-explaining this though, Purplemo posted this link earlier, http://www.anime-planet.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=14656
Look at the screenshots and some of the vids there, it should be self-explicit.

I thought that was a bullet hell game the first time I played it too XD but I'm afraid it's not, it's more of a fighting game. I can't remember the name but a friend has it and I borrowed it, so it's probably laying around somewhere that I haven't seen since september XD

You guys are probably thinking of Ikaruga (which I don't think is released yet) or Galaga/Asteroids/any of those other old 80s arcade games. They are danmaku, though not with the pretty bullet patterns. Ikaruga is quite good though as you can change your ship's color in flight and need to to absorb the same color bullets and avoid the opposite color bullets.

And Deus, I guess you're outta luck. Though I've heard Macs now can run Windows too. And I wouldn't be surprised if someone made a mod to allow Touhou on Macs, though I've never seen one.

This is what I came up with when I put IaMP into youtube. Looks awesome; and I realize these kind of combos would not be possible without infinite power or spirit or w/e its called in this game.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=UySaJa0-5o8

Just skip ahead like 2 minutes to get to the fight scenes. My favorite is the girl in green with red hair at like 4:00 that shoots the blue and multicolored balls of energy; that is just bad ass.

Side note - I have a mac ^_^ using boot-camp to run windows on it though.

Haha. I forgot about the All characters expo. Good job finding it. Try searching Immaterial and Missing Power for more vids. Of note, you can play online against others with this. That's what most of the youtube matches are; people playing online.

You're wrong about the combos. Each one is doable (except one or two) without using the cheats in practice mode (notice how most of them the bars go down and the combo is mostly over before the bars recharge other than after the bomb?). Although some of them would be hard(er) to pull off against a human who can jump out of some of the air juggles or would not stand still to let you start the combo. But each one is possible in the story mode. I've pulled off a 6500 damage combo with Marisa before (granted, a lot of that was that overkill Master Spark but still) and 80+ hit combo with Patchouli (purple nightie wearing hikkikomori).

And your favorite is Hong Meilin. She is BY FAR the weakest character (though Alice could be argued for this) as she has NO bullets that can reach the whole screen. She's nicknamed "China" because the Japanese for some reason can't remember Hong Meilin and she is the butt of numerous jokes (makes me think a bit of racism is going on here).

My favorites are Sakuya (knife girl), Marisa (witch with ungodly strong Master Spark) and Reimu (red-white). I love playing Remilia too (the loli vampire) but she's hard for me to win with, and a BITCH to fight against on lunatic mode.

By the way, it's so wrong to see Yuyuko beating up on Youmu.

Edit: Most of those spellcards are story mode CPU only cards. Human players can't do them other than

Marisa's Final Spark
Sakuya's Killing Doll
Patch's St. Elmo's Fire, Noachian Deluge, Silent Selena
Remi's Demon King Cradle

2nd Edit: All of the combos are possible because looking back, every time it required a refilled bar there was a bomb used. So all are possible if you're playing against a noob.

Your thinking of the mac's boot camp mod which a friend has been tring to help me install but for now I'm more worried about my full hard drive lol.

And no, not Ikaruga. It is a very anime game with beautiful artwork.
