Default Man of Steel

Trailer is here personally I really liked the Superman Returns revamp, unfortunate that a load of 'ahh dude where's the damn explosions?' douchebags didn't. I'm interested to see what Snyder can do with it though.

It's not so much Snyder I have faith in as much as it is Nolan. I hope he's heavy-handed because Snyder can let some movies get away from him. I enjoyed the trailer and hope Man of Steel takes a darker turn like Batman did. Make decent Flash, Wonder Woman and John Stewart Green Lantern movies and one day we might get the JLA.

Superman returns was not a revamp, it's the official 4th film of the original movie series. Christopher Nolan being involved makes me nervous in this reboot, as he tends to want to go with plausible realism in his Superhero movies. Superman is supernatural, so I don't want that being toyed with. Now, if it is dark in tone, that I am good with.

Good director, average movie. Bryan Singer should have made the third X-Men instead of giving it to Brett Ratner (because we still remember how much that one sucked). If there's one superhero movie series that deserves a reboot it's the Superman flicks, another sequel to the first two movies was just not needed (especially when you pick actors way too young to portray Clark and Lois).

Looking forward to Snyder's movie. Trailer looks promising. I would have preferred someone like Brainiac or Metallo to be the villain but General Zod doesn't hurt, either. And I guess I'll never see a Superman movie with Bizarro in it :(

I think the biggest challenge with a superman film is having a decent enemy. as he's impervious to pretty much everything, if any of his enemies stand a chance of beating him, and making us worry about him losing, they need to either 1) be in possession of kryptonite (which is pretty much every superman storyline) or 2) be his equal.

There's some interesting comic book stories of him out there, I hope they take influence from that rather like Nolan did with his Batman trilogy.

A JLA film would be awesome, but they need to drop Ryan Reynolds as the green lantern. A Wonder Woman film would be great too.

I really want this film to be great. I feel like the opportunity to tell an epic Superman story for today has been hugely missed. I'm actually worried about Snyder directing. The only movie I liked him directing was Dawn of the Dead. Watchmen, 300, and Sucker Punch were pretty movies but they were also very mediocre and insanely boring.

All-Star Superman and Kingdom Come are literally my two favorite comic books so I would love for this character to be done justice.

I still really like the Watchmen movie, and 300 is good for some mindless and slightly homosexual violence, but I agree he's got a history of being hit and miss. Nolan is involved though, so maybe he can bring something to the table.

Having a teaser like that shows they are not going the same route as the other movies... I say great.

My thoughts was on the casting as well. I think they Should have just made their own movie, not try to tie it in. I think Singer did as well for what he had to work with. Not sure if he was on casting but Kevin Spacey was a bad fit as Lex in my book as well. Weird too, cause all the X man movies he penned or directed were good. I can't totally knock Superman Returns(it wasn't bad), but I have no desire to ever sit through it again.

Nolan is here to save DC comic heroes.

...by portraying them as something they are not. If the Batman universe actually was as Nolan shows it then I may actually read a comic or two. On the other hand, Ironman, Spider-Man, Thor, Blade, Captain America, The Hulk and most of the Avengers ware actually portrayed as they are in the comics and still made for good movies, when somebody tries the same with any of the DC heroes you get...Superman Reborn, Green Lantern, Flash, Jonnah Hex etc.

If Snyder here manages to make Superman not Superman, I'll watch it, otherwise, no thanks.

Will this movie remove the bad taste in my mouth left behind by Smallville?
