Just started this and being only 10 min in and it's made my jaw drop at the animation. It's top quality and the fight was amazing. It's a Universal Century gundam too, it's not like Wing or SEED which is another plus.

Thus far, I'm impressed. Definitely keeping an eye on this OVA set. Episode one is about an hour long.

4.5/5 for ep 1 btw.

EDIT: GAH, it ended on a cliffhanger, big cliffhanger and now I'm hooked. Oh, I saw Bones and XEBEC in the credits. The CG is also top notch. I'm very, very excited to see episode 2.

Yeah, they really did not disappoint with this. Old school Gundam lovers will be delighted. I loved the retro character design, coupled with top notch animation and background, the visuals blew my mind. The music and sound also added to my mind orgasm, many different tracks playing throughout the 1 hour episode, each unique, kept the ost refreshing, there was some great pieces.

The fight scenes were choreographed well, and the brawl in the elevator was slick as hell. Overall, very happy with how this turned out (so far). The only beef I had with it was the fight scenes were too fast. They need to slow it down some and cut down on a lot of the aerial acrobatics. If future episodes were to take place on Earth, I trust they'd be more realistic. I'm also afraid that the show may turn into a mech with superpowers.

Here's to hoping each episode is 1 hour long!!

Tried to remember which elevator scene you were talking about so I watched it again. The one scene where that guy's neck gets snapped was pretty graphic. Could hear the bones and ligaments snapping quite well.

I was actually referring to when they were running away from the three trying to retrieve her.

Ah ya, that was a very good scene. No super powered kid or anything and actually used his head unlike most modern gundam series.

I really think this'll be top 5 worthy IF the next 2 episodes can sway me that way. If it turns into something like SEED or Wing I'll be very disappointed.

Considering Unicorn takes place after CCA and before F91, it makes complete sense that the character designs be from those shows, plus I thought it looked good with up to date animation. Same with the plot, if you haven't delved into the UC Gundam Time-line, your missing out on the plot and background. Also, how are you going to rate to plot so low? I mean your number one and number two anime are Bleach and Naruto, and you find the plot of Unicorn 5/10 so far?

From a time when they weren't completely filled with fillers and a main arc that rambled on like a broken record. I agree with you your assessment though, I haven't the slightest idea of the unicorn's timeline in the whol gundam relm. I'm merely grading as a frist time viewer of an anime series. The closest I can put it in a timeline would be in a not too distant future to the 08th MS Team because of the suit design and mention of "Zeon"

I was probably a bit harsh on the grading mostly the post was a joke about the throwback hair sytle which you bring up a good point. However I will retain that overall other than the animation the story progression and character acting really hasn't shown me anything new or original thus far. As its episode one I should have said story progression and character originality instead of plot since I wont know that for some time without reading the manga. And that is the reason for the bad grade at this time...

Can anyone tell me what is this OVA's relation with the original Gundam series? A sequel, a remake, or whatever it is.

I'm watching Gundam from 1979 right now, so I'm curious. Thanks.

This. Takes place after Char's Counter Attack, and before F91.
