Haha, I've watched this episode 3 times now and I always bust out laughing when I see the reaction to that.

And yes, I believe this series occurs prior to Index because Kuroko still doesn't know of Touma yet.

heh... ep 5 was cute. not that funny though. A little more character exposition. not a bad ep.

I enjoyed episode 5, it wasnt from the manga but it was fun to watch. Like you said, not particularly funny but cute. Despite being slow on the uptake of a plot, I've actually been surprisingly satisfied with it. so far.

Looking forward to ep6 as that one is from the manga.

Did I mention I love the intro?

Wasn't originally planning on watching this show, but after watching the first 5 episodes, I'm glad I did. The characters are all entertaining and the story/character development all seem to fit together very well (and no, I haven't read the manga). Definitely looking forward to the rest of the series now.

While it wouldn't hurt to watch Index, I think they've done a really good job to separate the two timelines. For people coming to To Aru Kagaku no Choudenjibou for the first time they aren't missing all that much. The only real mystery for them would be who the hell Touma is.

As it stands right now, in terms of quality, animation, seiyuu, sound track, and especially plot coherency, Railgun is #1 for me this season and only two steps behind Bakemonogatari for best of the year.

I was just mentioning it as a if they haven't watched it might be worth taking a look at for someone similar (bit like a recommendation) not as a 'it follows on' or anything because as you said they have separated it very well indeed :)

Also agree that it's high on my best of the year so far with Bakemonogatari being #1

ep 6... hilarious... perfect... this show is picking up steam.. which is impressive since this was more of a setup ep then anything else.

Rofls, did anyone notice that they fixed the karaoke for the intro? All of the groups' translations were so far off it was hilarious and the real english lyrics are so horrible it doesn't make sense.Same with the ending. Gotta admit it atleast sounds good, unlike S&W s1 opening.

Another good episode. It's a bit slow, but every episode builds the overall plot and aren't really just filler episodes. For someone watching this series the first time I can see it having a great deal of rewatch value as you'll catch a ton of things the 2nd time around that you didn't catch the first time around.

Rofl yeah! When I saw the karaoke subs "blitz loop blah blah planet" I was like wtf?!?

Anyways...after having read the manga, I thought ep 6 was kinda boring. Meh. All the fun is gone when you know what's coming up. =\
