yeah... i was watching the Accelerator arc again... and i have to say.. it was pretty solid as far as the middle eps of index go.

Made me hyped to watch the higher quality sub.. and i liked the first ep of Railgun much more after that.

I guess i reminded myself of how much i liked Misaka in index.

good I just watched it, and so far I am not lost, but I was a bit worried I would have to see Index first

So I went back and read both mangas and am now watching Index all the way through. You don't have to watch Index before, however it won't hurt because even though Railgun is a spinoff, it is quite litterally a direct continuation of Index, atleast in terms of the manga.

From what I've seen in the Railgun anime, they are changing the story line such that you don't have to know anything about Index at all. Touma may have been in the ending, but they rearranged the first 6 chapters of Railgun and pulled in Saten-san earlier than she should've.

If you don't want to sit through all 24 episodes, you can read the Index manga at OneManga. The Himemiya arc was added to the anime and is not in the manga, but other than that, the anime almost identically follows the manga, so you're not missing anything worthwhile.

ah... lots of Yuri based comedy... i actually found some of it moderately funny in ep2... though Kuroko is really annoying, so a whole episode based on her and her bizarre fantasy world got old pretty fast.

god... i hope this anime isn't basically episode 2 repeated over and over again, i don't think i'll make it past too many more of those.

Omg loved it, lol, loved episode 2.

azanimefan, episode 2 is actually the last chapter in the Railgun manga. As I mentioned in one of my previous posts it looks like they're moving things around a bit. For instance Saten-san wasn't supposed to show up until chpater 6 (of 21 chapters) yet she appeared in the first episode.

It looks like they're making Railgun to be completely separate from Index, so they're taking these episodes to introduce the characters over again. The Railgun series as whole is a pretty interesting story so you can rest assured it won't be like this for the entire time.

Anyway, I'm loving the intro more and more, its very catch especially the chorus. And despite Kuroko being totally annoying I'm finding her pretty funny, her weird obessions and Misaka's total overblown reaction to them :)

A little manga spoiler to explain the differences between the anime and manga so far

For the most part, episode 1 follows the first 2 chapters of the manga exactly, the only difference is the appearence of Saten. In the manga, one of the robbers knocks over Misaka's crepe which is what pissed her off, instead in the anime they used Saten getting kicked as the trigger. I must say the merge was quite seamless and well done.

As said before, Saten won't appear in the manga until chapter 6, and Touma plays a much larger role in the manga. From the looks of things, Touma won't be in the anime that much, which is actually fine because despite having a larger role, he didn't actually do anything in the manga.

I am happy with Railgun after 2 episodes under the cavet that they start moving along the story line within the next episode. It is slightly strange to take 2 episodes to introduce the characters but considering I really found the swimmingpool scene to be one of my fav scenes in the manga, I can overlook it this time.

In terms of their shift of material around the anime, they've done a good job with it so I don't have the usual complaints about anime adaptations of mangas that would normally emerge. I'm looking forward to this season!

[edit] sorry for the incoherent post. I'm slightly brain dead right now and my cat is sitting on me making it incredibly difficult to type, adding that onto my current lack of thinking capability is making this somewhat convoluted...

[edit2]
oh yeah forgot, wtf casablanca reference? that was TOTALLY random. Like wow, did anyone else catch that? If you did, "here's to you kid"

Like Kurogane named this on his blog, a better title would be "A Certain Berserk Lesbian Teleporter".
Ye enjoying it so far :P I hope they'll get started on a plot soon though.

ya know.... I think I'd enjoy this anime even if it didn't have a plot or arc to it, and that's strange for me

Episode 2 was okay. It had it's moments but I'm not a big fan of miss pig tails even though I know she's going to be in it quite a bit.

I did, however, get a big kick out of
Misaka chasing Touma down and releasing a ton of energy at him cornered just to let loose some steam

Remember the bridge scene?
ZAP ZAP ZAP AAAARG KABOOM. I sure hope they'll put in (a part of) the accelerator arc from her PoV, or something equally interesting.
