From the pov of someone who hasn't seen the VN, it was a perfectly acceptable introduction-episode.
Story-wise, a VN-to-Anime adaption can be nothing but a disappointment. There's just no way to fit 24h+ of text into a regular-length anime. |

Just watched episode 2. I thought this was a great episode. Umineko and Higurashi sure are really good at making creepy faces. The last few minutes were awesome. I think those few minutes made the episode. I can't wait until next week.

This anime is getting bashed by VN readers pretty hard. It's like FMA: Brotherhood.
I think it's really good up till now. Can't wait for the next week.

Well, I do understand the VNers, I only have one VN to compare it with, but if I had watched the FSN anime after the VN, I would've ranted it pretty hard aswell. Thats pretty much the reason I decided to leave the When They Cry VNs for after Umineko :P
