That about sums it up. It took Yuji from Shana at least half a season to progress as much as this guy did in 2 episodes. It helps that he actually started with some power and talent, but at the start he just didn't believe in himself.

I really hope this anime doesn't turn into a Dragon Ball Z type fight sequence each episodes...it's such a waste of time to go on for 15minutes fighting someone.

it is not. but the basic character profiles resemble the ones from shakugan no shana. its progression a lot of faster than shakugan no shana which i really appreciate :)

well 15mins are nothing compared to 10 episodes about the same damn fight... even beyblade had more variety :)

Despite the fact that the whole school boy with superpowers trope has been beaten like an old rug and then set on fire, I'm still enjoying the first couple episodes of this show. I don't know where it's going, but I have low expectations, so at least I won't be disappointed.

Episode 3 had some good info in it, but seemed kinda drawn out.

I'm trying to figure out the mage people. They attack Index mercilessly, try to kill her and almost succeed. Then at least the guy is happy that she's alive, and feels sorry for her. So, are they evil? Are they doing evil stuff for a good cause? Good people in an evil organization? What's up?

From Ep 5:

Unless there's another plot twist on the way, the mages seem to be good people in an evil organization. They were led to believe that a yearly ritual to erase Index's memories was needed to save her life, but Touma learned that their "15% of the brain" thing was bogus.
