And once again, the VA for Taiga has a curse. No matter what character she plays, no matter what show, I always don't want her character to be with the male lead. And yet, they always get together... 99.99% chance it will happen here too.

The first episode got me. I normally don't like this style, but it is so adorable. Can't wait to see how the show goes.

I love Tora Dora. It's easily one of my favorites this season. I just wish the story would slow down for some much needed character development. The series itself is a 4/5 for me.

What I think of the characters so far:

Character-wise I cannot stand Minori. She straight up just pisses me off with her bubblyness. It's not the fact that she's bubbly that makes me want to run a nail through her head, it's the fact she's TOO bubbly and just seems insanely stupid when she is bubbly. I'm not really sure how else to explain it. I understand why she is like that ( the story trying to say that Ryuji, as the depressed frustrated youth, would be attracted to happy go lucky snot bubbles.) I just think they overdid it. She's my least favorite character in the series due to her being so insanely annoying. I hope she gets hit by a truck. 0.5/5

Ryuji is awesome, plain and simple. I have just sat here staring at the screen for ten minutes trying to figure out why I think that way... I think it's just because of the way he interacts with the other characters and his general personality. He's kind, caring, and the voice of reason in most situations. I would have liked to see a few more scenes of him getting misunderstood for how he looks before they progressed the story to the point where the class actually understands him. "You sure turn in a lot of wallets" was one of my favorite lines. That's probably my only complaint with him. 4.5/5

Taiga is easily my favorite character in this series. I have generally always loved tsundere characters. At times she's funny to watch, other times cute to the point where you'd want to hug her and feel that the inevitable ass-kicking you receive for doing so would be well worth it. I typically don't like VA's that reuse voices but I have to make an exception in this case. The voice fits the role so well that I really don't mind hearing it again, I rather enjoy it. Taiga can be clever at times, and at other times insanely air-headed. I have 0 complaints about this character. Scratch that. Only one complaint. Liking a guy purely because you passed up the chance on being with him is stupid, and I really don't like how the reason for her lusting Kitamura can be summed up in that manner. However her lust for him is portrayed wonderfully and is for the most part highly comical. I just love seeing Taiga's rough exterior peeled away turning her into a babbling buffoon rolling about on the floor. The reason is shit, but how it is presented makes up for it somewhat. 4.9/5

Kitamura... He seems to only exist to show off how cute Taiga is. He desperately needs character development. Using his diligent nature as an excuse to relieve him of airtime is hurting this particular character imo. I really have no clue what to rate him, I don't feel I know him well enough to form a proper opinion yet. It's been 8 episodes and I can genuinely say that about a charachter.... ridiculous. ?.?/5

Ami's turn at last. at first I hated her, she pissed me off almost as much as Minori. Ok no wait scratch that, she merely irritated me. I don't harbor the same hatred for her as I do Minori. In fact I'd love it if Ami happened to be driving the truck that kills Minori in a fanfic that I will never write simply because I don't write fanfics. Anyways, as I was saying, I used to hate her, Now I just don't dislike her. Her two-faced attitude severely pisses me off since even in irl I can't stand people who just aren't themselves purely for the effect. However the fact that she's no longer two-faced towards the main 4 is refreshing... even if she's still a two-faced bitch around everyone else in the class. I would like her character more if she ended up developing to the point where she was no longer two-faced and a lot less conceited. that's another thing. I hate how she is so selfish, and at the same time I love it since Taiga's method of dealing with her was awesome. Ami's a bitch, and Taiga fights fire with fire and Ami just can't handle it. Go Taiga! Ami seems to be another character that just compliments Taiga's personality. Typing so much about her I actually realize theres a lot more to Ami than I had initially thought. Her relationship to Kitamura as his childhood friend is completely pointless and just seemed like a last ditch effort to bring her into the story and give Kitamura another 2 minutes of airtime in which we still learn nothing more about him. Her attraction to Ryuji is confusing. I really can't place her true motives yet on that one. At times she likes him and at other times she's setting him up to get closer to Taiga. Due to her being fairly two-faced and having fake persona's she is very very hard to read. I suppose as the story progresses we'll learn more about her but for the moment I'm just very baffled. She's fairly complex as a character, which is a good thing. 3.5/5



On a side note people are mentioning Akaneiru? Aw man, that's not even in the same league as this. I dropped that series faster than a submissive gay man drops soap in a prison. The first episode of that series was good, but everything that followed since has been complete shit. Akaneiro ni Somaru Saka is quite the disappointment this season. I was really hoping for more out of it after the first episode but almost all of the characters are just terrible. Akaneiro ni Somaru Saka is purely garbage. 0/5

From my experience with models I don't think the reaction should be stronger. Models are generally very comfortable in their own skin, they go so far as to change at the shoot right in front of everyone. I felt her reaction to be surprisingly true to life.

Episode 9:

Best and most hilarious episode of the series so far. Minorin's reactions to the curry, Kitamura nude, and the "ghost" are full of win. Ami's teasing of Ryuuji and Taiga's barge into Ami's shower were also funny. It looks like Taiga is starting to realize her feelings for Ryuuji as well. Can't wait for the next episode.
